Learn how to create a new Google Analytics account for your website or app.
To analyze traffic data for your website or app with Google Analytics, you'll need to set up your own Google Analytics account. When you use Google Analytics, you can get an idea of who visited your site, the content visitors you want to see, and how a user browses your site. You'll also better understand where your visitors come from on the internet, how your unique pages do, how many of your leads convert to sales, and where your users are located, among other insights. Best of all, setting up a new account is free and only takes a few steps.
Here's a quick summary of the steps you'll take to create a new Google Analytics account:
Go to the Admin page for Google Analytics.
Click on Create Account.
Provide an account name and configure your data-sharing settings.
Click Next and begin adding properties to the account.
Let's take a closer look at each step:
Start by going to the Admin page for Google Analytics. You must sign into your Google account first.
Once on the Admin page, look in the Account column for the option "Create Account." Click on it.
After you click Create Account, provide an account name. You'll also want to decide what data you want to share with Google by configuring your data-sharing settings.
Once you've filled in that information, click on Next. You can then start adding properties to the account. Remember that you must have the Administrator or Editor role to add properties, but if you're the only account user, you should be the Editor. If other people have access to your account, you can assign other roles to them.
To create a new property, follow the steps above, or, if you start a new session, navigate to the Admin page for Google Analytics, look to the Account column, and select the correct account. Then, look to the Property column and choose Create Property.
Next, enter the property's name, time zone, and currency. Click Next, and then select your business size and industry category. Click Next again, and select an option for how you plan to use Google Analytics. Finally, click Create and accept the Analytics Terms of Service and the Data Processing Amendment.
