Learn essential skills to build a data science career by enrolling in top-rated programs from leading universities and companies.
"I was in a Physics Phd program and realized that I no longer wanted to pursue a career in Physics but rather one in Data Science. I had never had formal training in computer science, machine learning, or statistics, so I knew that I would have to acquire these skills to successfully make the transition. I took several classes on Coursera, which I thoroughly enjoyed, while still in grad school. Taking these classes and comparing them to their equivalents on campus led me to drop out of grad school and become a data scientist. I wouldn't have my job without you guys! Coursera provided me with the jumpstart I needed to leave my grad program and pursue a new career in a field I love."
"I went from no programming experience, with an undegraduate degree in foreign languages and literature, to a data engineer within 1.5 years of intense self study. When I started on this self-teaching road, there were many online resources to choose from but I stopped at Coursera because unlike other platforms, it offers a complete experience: lectures, readings, tutorials, and real-life projects for hands-on practice. I like that courses cover introductory, intermediate, and advanced material, so that the learning continues whatever stage I’m at. It’s also important to know that I’m being taught by experts in the field who have the knowledge and training to be teaching in these subjects.
I listed all my certificates on LinkedIn and the projects that I completed in my Coursera courses on Github. Recruiters reached out to me and many of these conversations turned into interviews. My course certificates conveyed that I’m a persistent and dedicated learner. While not all my interviews resulted in a job offer, they gave me the opportunity to better understand my weaknesses and knowledge gaps. I jumped right back into online courses to address those needs and fill in those gaps. I am happy that Coursera offered me the chance to gain knowledge in a lot of new topics that are in demand and prove that I have the skills needed for the job!"
When I started the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate, I was a manager in food service. I knew I wanted to break into analytics and felt like courses on Coursera were the perfect way to start. After completing IBM Data Science Professional Certificate program in less than a month, I’m thrilled to say that I’ve gotten many internship interviews which led to some incredible opportunities. In fact, I recently completed an internship in analytics at a non-profit, and am currently working as a data science intern at an industrial sales company. The IBM Data Science Professional Certificate helped fast track my technical skills and professional development, allowing me to completely transition into analytics.

Explore top-quality degrees that you can complete at your pace from a world-class university. Many degrees have courses or Specializations you can start today. After you are accepted to the program, the material you complete will count toward your degree coursework.
A career learning path is a set of curated courses that together comprise a learning plan for achieving the skills necessary to land a specific role, and launch and advance a specific career.‎
We work with experts in a given career field to understand the skills needed, and with our own career and content teams to ensure we're recommending the right courses to help learners achieve their career goals and learn the right skills.‎
Time to completion varies based on your schedule and experience level, but based on the experience of other learners, you can expect to complete all the courses in a learning path in about 6-8 months. ‎
We suggest following courses in the order recommended in the path especially if you’re just getting started in the field. Depending on how much experience you may already possess, you can potentially start with more advanced content. The paths are flexible, however, so you should feel free to adapt a suggested path to suit your particular goals.‎
If you are interested in taking multiple courses in a career learning path, we recommend Coursera Plus, a subscription plan that provides unlimited access to over 3000+ courses. Visit the Coursera Plus page to make sure the courses you plan to take are included, and to learn more about how you can save money on your learning with a subscription model. ‎
You will earn shareable Certificates for each course, Guided Project, Specialization, or Professional Certificate that you complete as a part of a career learning path. You do not earn a separate certificate for the career path itself. If you are interested in earning credit that can count toward a degree program, we encourage you to explore a MasterTrack™ Certificate or degree program offering on Coursera.‎
We’re working hard to develop more career learning paths based on the needs of learners on Coursera and we’d love to get your feedback. Please fill out this brief survey to suggest a career learning path you’d like to see offered.‎
