Bio

Dr. David S. Charles is currently a Teaching Assistant Professor in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign teaching courses in competitive intelligence, data analytics consulting, leadership and change management, and professional development. As a scholar/practitioner/coach, he combines the analytical rigor of an academic tempered by the practical business acumen of a practitioner who understands what’s relevant in the day-to-day world. He has over twenty years of industry experience in the areas of digital transformation, innovation culture and strategy, business and people analytics, and change management. During that time, he held senior leadership positions in various business functions including marketing, information technology, and human resources across sectors, from healthcare to agriculture to finance for companies such as CVS Health and John Deere. David holds an EdD in Organizational Change and Leadership from the USC Rossier School of Education, MBA from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and BS in Management Information Systems from the University of Connecticut. He has completed certificates from KornFerry (Leadership Styles and Climate Assessment), NeuroLeadership Institute (Brain-Based Coaching), The University of Chicago (Leading Organizational Change), and the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College (Six Sigma Master Black Belt).
