Bio

Armando Martinez-Celis is a guest faculty member at California Institute of the Arts and a senior designer at Brains on Fire. He revels in sparking ideas and aims to infuse joy and surprise into the design process by creating open, inclusive, and accessible environments for all. Throughout the past ten years, Armando has taught introductory courses in graphic design and the History of Graphic Design. In his professional practice, he initially developed his skills working on non-profit brands and campaigns to serve communities of all ages and needs in Los Angeles—from science festivals to providing resources for people experiencing homelessness. More recently, he has made meaningful contributions to mission-driven organizations like Hello Bello, BETR Remedies, and Hanx Coffee. Armando has received design awards for branding and packaging design, has been published in IDEA magazine, and his work is part of LACMA’s permanent design collection.
