Bio

Kristin Stephens-Martinez is an Assistant Professor of the Practice in the Computer Science Department at Duke University. She received her PhD and M.S. in Computer Science from University of California, Berkeley, and her B.S. in Computer Science from University of Maryland, College Park. Professor Stephens-Martinez conducts research in computer science education, hosts her own podcast (The CS-Ed Podcast), and blogs about being a professor. Her research focuses on using data available in large classrooms with the goal of finding ways to allow class sizes to grow without affecting the learning quality. Beyond her research, Professor Stephens-Martinez focuses on supporting others in computer science and raising awareness of best teaching practices and issues in computer science education through her podcast and blog. She also enjoys reading, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and working in her strawberry patch.
