About the Course

Accounting information is the lifeblood of the organization, as it facilitates and influences operational and strategic decisions intended to achieve organizational goals. Organizations benefit from three decision-oriented roles of accounting: measurement, control, and communication. This course provides an introduction to accounting’s role in helping managers develop and implement, and improve the organization’s strategy. In particular, you will learn how non-financial and financial information is created, organized, and communicated to help managers make strategic decisions, as well as measure strategic success. This course also provides an introduction to accounting as a control function inside the organization, which helps influence the alignment of managers’ and employees’ decisions with organizational goals. You will learn about different types of controls, including process controls, budgets, and performance measurement and evaluation tools and techniques. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: • Create and communicate accounting information that facilitates strategic decisions. • Use accounting information to develop, implement, and improve organizational strategy. • Implement controls that align managers’ and employees’ decisions with organizational goals. • Measure and evaluate manager and employee performance to control and motivate operational and strategic decision-making. I can't say that the course was revelational. Besides, in one place, the test is really broken

Good material, but errors in quizzes that haven't been fixed in years, and difficultly getting peers to review work make this a bit difficult.

The reason why I have given 2 stars is because the week 2 quantitative analysis of this course does not have fixed answers. Yes questions change but then sometimes even when questions are same with same numbers and same wordings, answers change.

the information from materials and quizzes do not match each other. I had to do the two quantitative quizzes over 20 times to get them right. The teacher made the quiz in a way that's impossible for you to pass and even review your mistakes, because they change either the question answers, or some details in the questions or both of them every time you try again. Many questions had wrong answers by the system that made it way harder. This course and the other one from this teacher should be taken down from coursera because it is such a waste of time. I went through the 4 courses to get to the capstone course, but because of the 3rd and 4th courses, most people dropped out and there isn't any participant in the capstone to review my assignments.
