About the Course

In this course, you will explore the foundations upon which modern-day ESG was built, how market forces react to ESG, and ways to create and maintain value using ESG investment strategies. You will also learn about the five pathways of materiality, and how those interplay with or against ESG performance. You will examine the many challenges that corporations face when it comes to leveraging ESG investing into their portfolios, and how the changing landscape of ESG is making this an area of untapped potential when it comes to the financial workings of businesses today. You'll also learn from real-life case studies how you can assess risk, create better risk management policy, and build a map to identify valuable areas of opportunity and create better decision-making approaches. Lastly, you will look at portfolio optimization and the utilization of ESG factors to maximize returns in addition to examining different funds, their fee structures, and how investors can blend ESG into their investment portfolio. By the end of this course, you will know the best practices for creating a solid risk management plan and how to create a culture that is sensitive to ESG. You will better understand the history and framework behind ESG, and how to create a path forward using smarter methods to identify risk, navigate ESG issues, and reach ESG investing goals....

I thought this was one of the best ESG related courses I have taken. The course was recent, relevant and very interesting. Great material and case examples. I think a very balanced view was presented.

While the course does cover ESG broadly, the content quickly becomes very business school focused. It is not very interactive, with one speaker only through the course, and poor visuals that fail to capture the key takeaways. I was also surprised by the content of the tests which assessed whether we actually listened to the course, as opposed to what we truly learned in terms of transferable knowledge.

Positive take: Interesting approach on the rationale of finding the P&L link on ESG. Improvement points: Completely obsessed with Exxon but they did not mention Tesla, which would be a champion ESG company, if we measure overall impact on society. Also module #2 is not well formatted. Presentation materials can be improved.

The Course was interesting and I found the videos knowledgeable however, I did not feel adequately prepared for the quizzes. Additionally, I would have benefited from being able to know why my answers were not correct/what the correct answer was in order to actually learn/improve!

I liked the course, however, the sentences were long and confusing- the exercises too hence became a little confusing as being a non native English speaker and from a non business background it was already a bit tough for me.

Nice introduction to the subject, with interesting examples. When reports and publications are mentioned, links/access to the source documents would be appreciated.

Suggestions for improvement - Approach more consultative than pedagogic, More operational knowledge required to be covered from real world implementation

Too much text. more case studies would have helped. problem statments with solutions would have enhanced the whole material.

Esperava mais estudos direcionados à implantação do ESG em uma empresa (um conhecimento mais prático do que teórico).

Decent primer to start thinking about ESG, the advert for ESG metrics is a tad overdone.

This course was designed for beginners, however, the materials seemed to assume a certain level of prior knowledge, which left me feeling completely lost at times. Lectures included figures with minimal explanation. Moreover, I had expected the course to offer engaging tasks or group discussions that would help me apply what I was learning. Unfortunately, it was primarily composed of a series of 10-question tests at the end of each week.

The slides are not well oganised or even confusing and the speaker's speech is not that clear. I have followed another course from the same organisation that was better presented and the material provided was more organised and clear.

A lot of terms used in the lectures are not explained. He is talking at a level that is suitable for a doctoral student in management. I recommend that Coursera create a prerequisite course for this one.
