The instructor was excellent, the readings were relevant and directly related to the subject of the lectures, and the exercises were practical and to the point. In short, this was a great course.

Good topic and very meaningful content. As a business school student, I always believing it is so necessary to us to learn principle lines of law, Copyright and how it counted to, how long is its expiration, patent law, how would we calculate its duration, within or except our application hours. Plus, what are some good tricks that we could implemented in our real businesses. Plus, I love cases. Really hope to get more update from these course, like intermediary formal class level stuff and serious only for ACE folks capstone courses. I would suppose I may take a look at LSAT exam, dual degree would not be a bad idea after all.
The reason for 4/5. 1. The video get stuck so many times and I cannot bear it, 2. Still too little supportive informaton out there, we would need a standard answer reference to see what we did learned and nailed it, where did we missed and how or might we fix it. Learning is a battle, we do not want to miss anything. Lastly, a great thanks to coursera and UPenn for good learning experience.

I very much enjoyed this course. I took it as a refresher because I have been out of the workforce for a few years. However my only issue is with respect to the way that the term of a trademark is not fully elaborated. While it is true that a trademark can exist in perpetuity, it is not explained as to why and how. Trademarks have a ten year term starting from the initial date of filing. A mark can in fact be challenged by a third party if it can be proven that a mark is no longer used in commerce and for this reason, it is not a given that the mark will be held in perpetuity. Marks can be renewed for subsequent ten year terms provided that the mark as it was filed originally, is still in use. It is the responsibility of the the trademark specialist to ensure that prior to filing for renewals to avoid a costly legal battler should anyone take it upon themselves to follow through with a challenge.

The course was very insightful into the various mechanisms regulating intellectual property. The distinctions and criteria surrounding patents, copyrights and trademarks were carefully aligned and traditional alternatives to these techniques were provided for during the modules. I honestly got more than I bargained for and will definitely recommend it to anyone interested in gaining a sound knowledge on intellectual property.

The Course is excellent, addresses all the IP Types, and Alternatives with case studies, comparisons etc. With more relevant readings to the present time, this would be one of the best IP Primer Courses to take

Coursera online courses are really helping. I am so happy to Coursera for offering Intellectual Property Law and its major forms and alternatives and issuing certificate for completion of my course.

Very good initial overview of IP and alternatives. Great teacher/presenter.
Would not recommend as standalone but as a stepping stone to the other Upenn IP courses.
