I have been learn this course when I am on quarantine days at my home. I set my mind to study for 2 days because I think Chinese language is very important for everyone who need to work or study. This course is very useful for people who just started to learn Chinese. This course is very good. I have learnt much in a best way. The topics are useful and the vocabulary and grammar that we learn are at HSK 1 level. The quizzes are short and the deadlines motivate you and help you keep track. Thanks to Coursera for providing this course.

Its perfect. The syllabus also fits me. I like the self-paced learning of Mandarin. However, I have a hard time in the peer-review assignment on the last part. This will take time in looking for someone to review your submission. But overall, the syllabus and the teachings are very clear. I learned to have basic Mandarin communication.

It is a great course but it is quite disappointing to receive the certificate and read that it has no credit. It should not state this because it gives the sense that it has no value. Even if it has not credit it should be written differently; for example, that we have satisfatorily completed with the course requirements.

For me this has been an excellent program. One may add that since Chinese is a tonal language and English language as practiced today, does not have ways and means to capture nuances of the Chinese language, it takes some time and effort to get understanding of it. I would like to complete the next stages of the course.

Great intro class. The videos were well done and quite helpful. I also liked the New Words section that helped with the pronunciation. I wish there was an option to practice verbal communication with classmates.

You do need to invest a lot more time to keep up with the optional writing section if you want to try that.

Great course! Recommend to take the entire specialization. Very helpful, especially if you study all the characters and try to learn how to read/write as well as speak it. I've added a Mandarin keyboard to my phone and computer and keep practicing whenever possible! Loved the course.

I really learned a lot in this course, I recommend it one-hundred percent! The teacher is clear, the course teaches real-life situations, with conversations with different individuals which help a lot since we listen to different voices and create connections of pronunciation.

Fantastic to gain a quick introduction to basic Chinese. It does not focus on grammar but the vocabulary introduced is highly useful! The ability to practice speaking sentences and vocab and phonetics segments are really handy to build a foundation in Chinese pronounciation.

This course was an excellent introduction to Mandarin. I liked the format of the instruction, videos, text and opportunities to learn characters. The quizzes kept me focused on the information that I had just learned. I am looking forward to the 2nd course.

It is a well compiled course for beginners who wanted to learn the language which is one of the most difficult languages in the world will understand the basic conversation in 4-6 weeks to be able to travel to this beautiful part of the world i.e china.

I'm not wild about the audio submission, and most people sound like under 10's on the audio, but I guess that is nothing new. The audio really made my mind work much faster to try to understand Chinese
