About the Course

Practice and expand on the fundamentals of programming that are core to any language as well as the unique aspects of Kotlin syntax. You will work with data types, functions, conditionals, operators, collections-arrays, variables and loops. Furthermore, you will declare and initialize different types of variables and explain their scope as well as create arrays and collections in Kotlin. You’ll create control flow patterns using conditionals and loops. There will be opportunities to practice using structs and classes while considering best cases for both. Discover deeper ways to use objects in Kotlin through exploring interfaces and classes. After completing this course, you will be able to: • Describe basic types and variables • Explain numbers in Kotlin • Explain what conditions are • Describe how to use loops • Explain the concept of a function  • Differentiate between a parameter and an argument • Explain that a function can return a value and describe how it works • Explain the difference between a class, an object and a type • Differentiate between various visibility modifiers • Describe the use of collections in programming • Identify which collection type to use in any given situation • Explain the difference between List, Set and Map • Synthesize the skills you gained from the course to create code for the Bank Account project. This is a beginner course for learners who would like to prepare themselves for a career as an Android developer using Kotlin. To succeed in this course, you do not need prior web development experience, only basic internet navigation skills and an eagerness to get started with coding....

The course was well taught but sometimes the instructor seams to be so fast and I had to go back severally to understand concepts and what was said. Overall, its a nice course.

The course went in depth with OOPS concepts and all the basics! It was a bit easy for me to grasp the course coming from JAVA. Thanks Meta Staff

Very solid intro to Kotlin. This did feel like a firehose of information, and I wish there were more opportunities to build simple examples of what we learned throughout the course.

It is pretty good, and explain well all subjects but it kinda hurry up a lot and compress many things, which can be confusing.

Overall the material is good. But when writing the quizzes, you will not always be presented with the correct choices for your answer - causing you to fail until you retake the quiz a second time... At which point the correct answer will be available amongst the choices. Additionally, there are quite a few grammatical and syntax mistakes. And lastly, the projects and exercises are quite verbose and difficult to follow at times.

Nice overview of the language, not enough structured practice for building an understanding of the syntax.

As traduções estão muito falhas, as vezes é dificil de entender todo o conteúdo.

How can this certification be released as a paid service? I should expect a ready-for-sale service. I spent a indecently amount of my total time dealing with problems (including code errors, outdated information) and check 3rd-party resources on my own, rather than just learning. In addition some of the Coursera support staff (not all, thankfully), suggested me to discuss the issues in community, when it's not my job to do that (why would they not do it themselves?). If I cannot pay for a ready-to-use service, then I should get paid to debug and fix it like I did. I suggest that Meta reconsider their priorities. I dropped this course, and enrolled in Google Project Management instead, which is really excellent - a clear contrast.

I do not have words to describe how awful is this course! Listen: you will not learn Fundamentals in this course! You will need to study from another font in order to really get the knowledge you need to accomplish it! Crap!
