Barker as she provides a warm, supportive atmosphere in which learners are encouraged to intensively explore themselves in order to create a personal brand that authentically and effectively communicates their values and professional gifts. I was torn between giving this course a 3 and a 5. I decided to go half way - on one hand, the course has been created by a fantastic professional and a great human being - it does contain several helpful hints and tips (it's very basic but it is an introduction). On the other hand, the content is truly sparse and maybe shouldn't be spread over 5 weeks - week 4 had only 13 minutes of videos and that's it.

This course benefited from strong presence of its creator and a great community in the past but now Kimberley had to direct her time (good luck!) to other efforts and this course seems a bit... expired.

All in all, definitely worth taking if you're a bit wary of personal branding and online presence. You'll be eased right in ;)

Offers a simple, straightf forward introduction to personal branding with some solid 3rd party resources for extending your learning.

* This course should be intended for people with limited social media experience. Growing up on MySpace and Facebook, I felt like I was already familiar with the information presented in this course.

* Some of the content could be updated to better reflect 2022 (The world of tech changes quickly!)

* I think this course could add content about preparing CV/Resumes, LinkedIn, and optimizing your presence in professional circles. (I'm an entrepreneur so I don't care about this... But I think a lot of people would find this an essential part of personal branding today)

This course includes all the basics of personal branding in the 21st century. Most of us think of that as our digital presence -- websites, social media -- but the instructor reminds us that there's more to it. The suggestion to schedule an annual review of my mission statement and the three words that best define me is brilliant. Ditto for establishing a personal board of directors for accountability. Well worth the time. However, I would suggest updating all content at least annually. In today's world, a reference to 2015 is too long ago. And 2012? Might as well refer to something from the Dark Ages.

I liked the tutor's personality a lot. At first I didn't get it, but then I found it humorous, honest, encouraging and very warm. She stressed an importance of creating a community and support each other and the first time in my life it made me think of the importance of the community. I enjoyed reading the forum, which made me think how diverse in age, experience and goals the learners are. I learned several useful techniques, which helped me to better define the audience of my social channel and gave me some thought on what values I would like to promote. All this was helpful. Thank you, Kimberley!

It's a very learner-friendly (if a bit light-hearted) apporach to Personal Branding. My only regret is that the course was a breeze to go through and sometimes I feel like I would benefit from being made to stop and think instead of click through to the next assignment (could have been obligatory and peer-reviewed), quiz (could have been harder), and next set of videos. That said, the videos are really great to watch and (I guess) completely in line with Ms. Barker's personal brand (so that's one more takeaway). Absolutely deliveres what the title promises: Intro to PB.

The course was very enlightening. Personal branding is important as it is about integrity, authenticity and WHO we are. My values must reflect in my personal brand. With the course, I have come to have a new understanding of personal branding. The analogy of the party by Kimberley Barker really hit home. While it is important for people to know what I do (the product I sell / service I render), I must also be mindful of my reputation.

In all, the course has opened up a new vista for me which I hope to tap into going forward for the benefit of my business.

This course was much more helpful than I originally thought it would be. The lessons help you identify how your values mesh with your business and the world of social media. There as an undue emphasis on Twitter because the instructor uses it. The class would have had more value if there had been a section on Tumblr or Instagram. There were links to get to know other platforms better, but the course focus on Twitter was disproportionate. There are no student graded assignments to contend with, and the three quizzes are easy to pass. Highly recommend.

Introduction to Personal Branding is a good course. Professor Barker is full of energy and she is also quite funny. She introduced us to a very large topic in a short amount of time and based on her agenda, succeeded. Taking Introduction to Personal Branding prepared me for my current course, Career Brand Management, where a lot of the terminology is mentioned repeatedly. While it isn't as thorough as my courses, I felt good about entering the course knowing I was introduced to a lot of familiar material in Dr. Barkers course. Thank you.

This course is very easy to take, and although there is an attempt by the instructor to really be very fun and very interactive and very engaging, I think most of the time, this attempt was somewhat overboard, in that the content and structure of content were being compromised. But still, it was an insightful and exciting course. The instructor almost made it sound informal because she was trying to establish a fun and exciting, adventurous course. I want to believe that it's part of her way to also deliver the lessons very well.

The instructor's engaging personality makes the lectures a pleasure, but many of the readings are outdated by 5-6 years or the links are broken. As a course involving social media avenues, the data and trends were really old, with some platforms not even mentioned, while Google+ (which is now defunct) was said to be more popular than LinkedIn. If you're new to social media, it might be helpful with basic tutorials, but the best information from this course is in the mission statements and other activities to create your brand.

These are great for beginners into personal branding and I've learned a thing or two from here. Overall the proctor had a good personality. I'm giving it 4 stars because there were times when I felt like the professor was rambling on a bit. As a person of the younger generation, some of these are already known to us such as Twitter and Digital Privacy. This would benefit an older less techy generation. It could've been a bit more interactive or challenging for qualitative course. overall i learned something kudos!

This course really gets you thinking about what you post on the internet and how and where you're posting that information. Right off the hop this course wasn't what I was expecting - little did I know the difference between personal branding and personal marketing but, now I know! I wish that there wasn't so much emphasis on Twitter as there are tons of other great social media venues that all have there perks depending on what you're goals are. I liked that this course was a lot about learning

This is a great introductory course for anyone who is into online personal branding. The focus and emphasis on authenticity and the Board of Directors are very interesting and relevant to the subject. The emphasis is more on Twitter for this course so if anyone is interested in building a profile on LinkedIn, this might not be the most ideal course. Nevertheless, the basics are almost all covered and the additional reading materials are great! Thank you for the course, Kimberley!

Dear Kimberly Barker,

I wish to tell you that you have designed a course in very effective way so that everyone can understand very easily. The additional article links provided with video lectures are really helpful better understanding of the topics. I personally like the exercises like finding your personal board of directors, your mission statement and creating your digital presence through social media can really help anyone to understand the important of personal branding.

This was a great course for individuals who have no knowledge of social media platforms. However, if you're using social media every day, many of the things you learn may not be a surprise to you. I rate this course four starts because even though I already knew most of what was taught, I did learn a few things and I found the teacher to be excellent. She was very good at speaking and being personable and friendly. If she taught another course, I'd take it.

This course was helpful in helping identify the brand that I want to bring to my profession (and personal life). It was helpful in that it provided a wide breadth of introductory material. Lastly, the instructor introduced social media platforms available, and features from at least two of the internet/social media platforms.

I preferred the videos filmed directly by the instructor. She is very engaging, informative, and her humor appreciated.

This course was a great introduction to personal branding. You will learn the most basic thought processes behind developing the foundation of your brand. Keep in mind however, that this course was released several years ago, so some of the material is dated and not all info is relevant to every business model. Overall, I learned how to get started thinking about branding and this course is a great jumping off point.

Good introductory course to personal branding, online presence, and social media platforms for self promotion or small businesses. There were many gold nuggets throughout the course but I benefited from it by gaining a new perspective of social media use and digital presence. I would recommend this to anyone thinking of starting a small business (physical or online) or anyone looking to boost their online presence.

This was the first course about the personal branding which includes all required information without meaningless marketing stuff like "build your brand in three days" courses suggest.

Only one thing: the course does not include much of information about the actual typical scenarios of how to manage mean people feedback (haters). I think that would be a nice info for the reputation management block.

I liked it and it was very informative - a lot of work was placed on the student in regards to Branding. Good for getting your head clear in regards to what you want, guides you through every step very well. But in regard to actual information that is provided, and not found on your own through self-reflection, not much is provided besides what aids the student in the self-reflection process.

This introduction to personal branding is really good for me because I have not much knowledge about personal branding in the first place. After finishing this course, I would not say I became very knowledgable in personal branding, but I have increased awareness about the importance of personal branding for sure, and I think that is the main value of this "Introduction" to Personal Branding

Some very valuable learnings from this relatively easier course. I'll be taking my personal brand way more seriously now and with some concrete ideas I got from this course.

Could have been 5 star if there was a bit more depth to the course. The 1-on-1 on twitter was not really needed. If someone can find out about coursera, then not knowing how to use twitter was far fetched possibility.

Kimberley is a wonderful instructor keeping the student engaged with her wonderful personality and wit. The information is well suited to someone with very limited experience in personal branding and social media. Having said that, the information is clear and concise and worth the time for someone with more experience just to make sure they haven't missed a little gem of knowledge.

Thank you so much for giving this course, the first 2 weeks are very helpful to me, but for someone who came from a younger generation (I'm currently 19), and also a dancer who have spent lots and lots of time on social media, the last 3 weeks are not very insightful to me since I already got most of those nailed down from research and experience. But overall, great presentation!
