In this course, you will delve into the concept and importance of sustainable infrastructure, and understand its crucial role in the economic recovery of the region. Additionally, you will discover how these projects can contribute to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

We will help you appreciate the importance of a shared vision of sustainable infrastructure throughout the entire project lifecycle, providing you with the tools to face global challenges. We will explore the roles that the private sector can play in the development of sustainable infrastructure projects, and show you the economic and social benefits of incorporating this perspective into your projects. Moreover, we will introduce you to the pillars of sustainability within the integrated framework that enables the delivery of higher quality infrastructure, and help you understand the differences between this framework and the social and environmental safeguards in projects.

Infrastructure is the building block to support economic growth, productivity, the provision of services, and people’s quality of life. This course provides the concept of sustainable infrastructure and introduces the infrastructure framework developed by the IDB. It also outlines the global challenges regarding projects sustainability and the role of infrastructure in the region’s economic recovery.
