About the Course

This is the second course in the Google Project Management Certificate program. This course will show you how to set a project up for success in the first phase of the project life cycle: the project initiation phase. In exploring the key components of this phase, you’ll learn how to define and manage project goals, deliverables, scope, and success criteria. You’ll discover how to use tools and templates like stakeholder analysis grids and project charters to help you set project expectations and communicate roles and responsibilities. Current Google project managers will continue to instruct and provide you with hands-on approaches for accomplishing these tasks while showing you the best project management tools and resources for the job at hand. Learners who complete this program should be equipped to apply for introductory-level jobs as project managers. No previous experience is necessary. By the end of this course, you will be able to: - Understand the significance of the project initiation phase of the project life cycle. - Describe the key components of the project initiation phase. - Determine a project’s benefits and costs. - Define and create measurable project goals and deliverables. - Define project scope and differentiate among tasks that are in-scope and out-of-scope. - Understand how to manage scope creep to avoid impacting project goals. - Define and measure a project’s success criteria. - Complete a stakeholder analysis and explain its significance. - Utilize RACI charts to define and communicate project team member responsibilities. - Understand the key components of project charters and develop a project charter for project initiation. - Evaluate various project management tools to meet project needs....

Although I took this course first before the foundation of project management I found I have known many terms in my real life so eager to start to learn more in-depth qualities of project management.

Peer reviews are great but it can hinder if said peers are not an expert in the field of question. Those that possess skills in project management or are currently working in the field, I think would be better for assignment reviews. Outside of that, great course and ready for the next ones in line.

This course has thoroughly helped me reinforce what I previously knew but in a formal way. I love that I am able to ractice with the work tools used here thereby building my experience and my portfolio artefacts. Thank you google coursera for the demo license to be able to practice with the tools

It was very good, but not receiving the feedback from the peer-reviewed activity (make a project charter) shouldn't be an impeditive for getting the certificate, to the point that I concluded 99% of the activities, my grade was enough for being approved and the certificate couldn't be delivered.

Lots of information both theories and practical knowledge!

The case study going through the whole course is great.

Interactive peer review assignment is a good challenge. However there were some vicious reviewers that intentionally make others fail their work.

Discussion board is hard to navigate.

You might want to think about revising feedback to be required if someone does not award full points. Gitlab has a great online course that outlined the grading criteria for each but forced some sort of comment. While it was more time consuming it forced me to be more thorough and thoughtful.

Solid course. My only criticism is that I'd like to add a criteria on peer reviewed assignments that graded people on how professional the document looked. Some people just copy and paste which makes the document messy and hard to follow, and then they are still awarded all points.

Insightful, information packed. Well explained since I had no idea so much goes into the Project Initiation phase. I'll definitely have to review the information periodically so I am able to retain it and not get the information mixed up due to the large volume of data presented.

Information that are provided in the course are so easy and had meaningful use in the life of project manager. Things are very much elaborative even in shorter time. Tasks and assignement that are given very helpful to learn and utilize the learned knowledge in practical use.

Very good course, but I am giving 4 stars because of peer graded assignment, first review was very unfair. As I was completely sure that my task was done correctly, I submitted it again without any change and got 2 positive reviews. Peer graded assignments can be improved.

It would be much more educational to have more interactive lessons inside the google sheets tool. A more realistic "hands on" lesson plan would have been very beneficial and would encourage me to use sheets more in the future instead of possibly using another tool instead.

I have been into Project management, but not been a formal one since i has been handling it on my own, this gives me more structured way of working and explains in a very simple manner, i would definitely recommend this to someone looking to move into Project mangement.

This course was very informative and helped me understand how to implement the concepts from course 1 and kick-off the project. My only major complaint was that at times it felt like the course as going by too quickly and I had to pause the videos to catch up on notes.

Some of the terms are a little confusing to keep straight, I had to refer back quite a bit to make sure I was understanding what a deliverable was v. a goal and how they might differ. Overall though, great examples, the material was comprehensive and robust. Thank you!

The content is sometimes engaging, ive had a real difficult time staying focus, theres alot of talking in the lessons. It would be cool if there were different types of assignments that could keeo me in it as opposed to video, video, video, read this, quiz, big assignments

I like this course. I have a very difficult time listening to female voices, which makes the learning experience quite challenging for me. I wish there were an option to choose the gender of the instructor. For this course the instructor had a voice easier to follow.

The course is well documented and easy to apprehend. The examples are relavent. However, i feel that some assiggnment of management tools (open source) such as google spread sheet, templates, charts, pivot tables could be included so that learner becomes onboarding.

Love the course so far, however, I did not like the assignment to have to review and grade other peers assignments (at least 3) and have them to review mine in order to have this course complete. Please keep in mind all students are busy with their own assignment.

It's really unsatisfying to finish a course, knowing that I satisfied all of the requirements for the peer-graded assignment, and have to trust someone else to grade it while also not knowing when it will be graded.

Other than that I'm loving all of these courses.

The instructors were clear and concise. The reading material was very helpful. I have learned so much about project management through this course. Only negative is the peer assignments. Overall, I think it is a worthwhile course especially for the price.

Great Course Of course ! The course is detailed and very informational. I would have loved more if there is more of practice exercises (ex: a sample tool ,especially for project management ) and little less of pdf readings. Thank you for the amazing effort !

The material was not clear when conveyed, I was unfamiliar with some of the questions that were asked on the quizzes. I had to review videos more than once to clarify some of the notes I was taking and the charts and material did not coincide like Course 1.

The course was great, but I had to come back after months of completition, apparently the course did not take into consideration that I already saw some videos (I know I did since i had notes on them) and the I had to review again work of the classmates...
