The degree conferred will be the "Master of Engineering," awarded by Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering. Diplomas for online students are identical to those issued for students who completed their degree requirements on campus.
Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, along with Dartmouth, is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), a United States regional accreditor founded in 1885.
If you are not ready to enroll in the full degree program, Dartmouth Engineering offers several open courses in association with Coursera, such as the C Programming with Linux Specialization. These courses can help you build knowledge in the relevant subject areas and explore learning with Dartmouth Engineering and Coursera.
You can take up to two courses simultaneously. Each course will require 15-17 hours of study per week, so two courses would be considered a full-time course load.
On a case-by-case basis, students may petition to switch from online to on-campus study or vice versa. Students may not switch between these modes more than once.

No transfer credit for courses taken at institutions outside of Dartmouth may be credited towards the MEng. If you earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) from Dartmouth, you may count up to six graduate courses towards the requirements for both the BE and MEng programs. The courses must not have been taken to fulfill the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (AB) degree.
You will pay for each course as you enroll. Payment for each course must be received before the first day of classes.
No work experience is necessary. You will need either an engineering background or strong preparation in a field such as physics or math to enroll for this program.
Language proficiency test scores are required for non-U.S. citizens, with the exception of those who are earning or have earned a degree from institutions in the U.S. or Canada, or who are from the following countries: Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ghana, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Slovenia, and Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.
International students living abroad can enroll and complete the program online from their home country and would not be sponsored on a work visa. With sponsorship regulations, international students currently in the U.S. would not be eligible to take this program online, but would be eligible to apply to the on-campus MEng program offered by Dartmouth Engineering.
