About the Course

A leader in a data driven world requires the knowledge of both data-related (statistical) methods and of appropriate models to use that data. This Business Analytics class focuses on the latter: it introduces students to analytical frameworks used for decision making though Excel modeling. These include Linear and Integer Optimization, Decision Analysis, and Risk modeling. For each methodology students are first exposed to the basic mechanics, and then apply the methodology to real-world business problems using Excel. Emphasis will be not on the "how-to" of Excel, but rather on formulating problems, translating those formulations into useful models, optimizing and/or displaying the models, and interpreting results. The course will prepare managers who are comfortable with translating trade-offs into models, understanding the output of the software, and who are appreciative of quantitative approaches to decision making. Business analytics makes extensive use of data and modeling to drive decision making in organizations. This class focuses on introducing students to analytical frameworks used for decision making to make sense of the data, starting from the basics of Excel and working up to advanced modeling techniques....

This course starts off strong but weakens at week 2. Not enough explanation of WHY you are using certain functions and references, and the instructor needs to SLOW DOWN. Please stop trying to cram 60 minutes of lecture into 30 minutes of recording. Lastly, it would be much more helpful to include a walk through of how answers on quizzes are reached, instead of just letting you retake the quiz over and over and end up guessing the right answers in frustration.

Nice knowledge, until the Final Course. The solution is wrong, and I must to find the wrong answer by hand until I found that the key was wrong. Really waste of time

This is one of THE BEST courses on Coursera. I thoroughly enjoyed this course. The instructor is so precise with the teaching and the instructions. I am pleased with the learning, in fact, I learned a lot in this course that I previously didn't know. Although, the last few parts were a bit.. rushed I feel like, especially the nonlinear, binary, integer functions. If there were explained in a more detailed way, it wouldve been good. But the rest of the material is very good. Thank you for making this course! I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is thinking of enrolling in it.

Poorly deisgned. Course starts smoothly but after 2nd module there's a lot of issues that the learner might run into. Moreover the teaching meathodology and the course design is also not good, as what i felt. Most important of all, this course is not for beginners. It is designed for intermediate learners.

There are still some errors in the quizes. Overall a Linear Programming heavy course. Expected to learn more of Excel for ex: Macros, Pivot Table, etc. Not relevant to people who want to master Excel deeply.

I had a positive experience with the course and that I found it to be highly informative, in particular, the skills acquired in Excel Spreadsheet, such as Linear Programming and Non-Linear Programming. These are both powerful tools that can help optimize a wide range of business processes and decision-making tasks.

Furthermore, the lecturer was proficient in presenting the course material and was able to explain the concepts in a clear and concise manner. This is a critical aspect of effective teaching, and it's great to hear that the instructor was able to deliver the course material in a way that resonated with me.

Overall, the ability to learn new skills and acquire knowledge is an invaluable asset, and it's fantastic that I was able to do so through this course. I hope that I am able to apply these new skills to my work or personal life and that they prove to be beneficial to me in the future.

The course and teacher are good but the way the teacher rushes through it makes for a lot of rewinding and replaying of video to absorb the lessons. There is a reason poeple arent passing the exams and have to go back to the videos. The final project was another doozy. Some helpful info from other learners in the discussion forum but the teacher wasnt much help. Overall really liked the skills I learned but I think this course could have been presented and packaged much better.

After a month with this course I think I will unenroll - what a waste of time! There is too much information to absorb within each 30 minute exercise. If you are not already a maths pro I don't think you will understand a good proportion of this course. You end up hitting a brick wall on week 3 or 4 because of information overload. I have successfully completed plenty of courses and many self-help tech books (HTML, CSS, JS, PYTHON, LINUX) but the pacing of this course is just too steep.

Good lessons and explanations. Great videos and speed. Lots of practice tests. To sum, the lessons, exercises and the professor: 5 stars, no doubt.

Just a few notes: if you don't have any/some experience with Excel, the course might get a little hard; on the other hand, if you know the basics of Solver and Excel functions, this will be a breeze (I completed this 6 week course in less than half the time).

And one single complaint: last week's graded tests have mistakes/complications; the final project is also pretty advanced compared to the rest of the course imo (which they warn you about in the quiz, and the passing grade is low because of this, but still), not to mention Solver can't find the solution- it took some trial and error, and a couple tries of the quiz to get the whole thing right. Lots of people have complained about this, so don't be surprised if this happens to you too.

I really enjoyed the course content and Professor Cutrone's delivery. I didn't study science or maths at university and I can easily follow this course and solve the questions on my own. However, I must say that the final assessment was really difficult to pass and it took me dozens of frustrating attempts to get there. I'd recommend whoever encounters the same issue to check the forum of week 6 and try to find any useful information or discussion there. You may also consider joining the Whatsapp group via a link provided by Professor Cutrone in the Forum. Good luck, guys!
