About the Course

Introduction to Google Workspace Administration is the first course in the Google Workspace Administration series of courses. This series will serve as the starting place for any new Google Workspace admin as they begin their journey of managing and establishing Google Workspace best practices for their organization. These courses together will leave you feeling confident to utilize the basic functions of the admin console to manage users, control access to services, configure security settings, and much more. Through a series of readings and step-by-step hands-on exercises, and knowledge checks, learners can expect to leave this training with all of the skills they need to get started as Google Workspace administrators. In this course you will sign up for a Google Workspace account and configure your DNS records for Google Workspace. You will learn how to provision and manage your users, and will create groups and calendar resources for your organization. You will be introduced to your Cloud Directory and will learn how to split your organization into organizational units to simplify user and service management. Finally you will learn how to delegate admin privileges to other users in your organization. IMPORTANT - To get the most out of this training course, learners should be prepared to: - Purchase a new domain through a registrar such as enom or GoDaddy. Note: If you already have a domain that you would like to use for the trial you can do this but this course does not provide detailed steps on how to associate an existing domain with a Google Workspace trial account. For detailed instructions on how to do that, please refer to this Help Center article: https://support.google.com/a/topic/9196 - Provide credit card details as part of the Google Workspace account setup. You will be using a 14 day trial Google Workspace account during this course. As part of the sign up flow you will be required to provide credit card details. No charges for Google Workspace are made to your credit card until the trial period has ended. You must ensure that you CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION before the trial period ends to avoid and charges. This is very IMPORTANT so don't forget! - Install and be ready to use the latest version of Chrome web browser available at https://www.google.com/chrome/...

I loved the parts on Organizational Units and Custom Directory. If Google Could build a course on the Google Cloud Directory Sync that would be more awesome. GSuite remains the best by far.

I had already set up a couple of GSuite accounts for small businesses, but this course gave me a number of tips & tricks which helped me fine tune the accounts. Worth the time to complete.

Plenty of mistakes in the instructions, especially for the practical exercises. Desperately needs to be updated to reflect the current functionality of Google Workplace.

You want to know what's fun about using Google/Coursera to get certificates to advance your career so people will actually look at your resume and give you a call back for an interview? It's the fact that Google loves to keep people in the dark, which is why this entire course hasn't been updated in YEARS!! Almost none of the tools and systems they focus on are in the right place anymore, or they've been combined with other settings in a different place, or just outright depreciated. I am so mad at myself for thinking that a large multi-billion dollar company would actually want to train people the right way and train them on their current technology instead of their technology from days gone by. This is the second Google course I have taken on here, neither had up to date information for 2024 and we are almost at the end of the year. So this company decided to be lazy for over a year, and seemingly, don't care one bit. What is surprising is that Coursera has not informed Google of their laziness so now I'm stuck with having spent money I barely have on an outdated course in the hopes I can make more money down the road. But if a lowly tech is realizing the information is outdated, I am sure recruiters know as well, so when they see my certificate, they'll be more likely to say that I don't have the proper knowledge, because in reality I don't. Both companies should be ashamed of themselves, but since they are making money hand over fist and supplying that money to their large stakeholders, us people trying to advance our lives and get opportunities that were only afforded to those making these asinine decisions.

Very dry material (read, read, you try, quiz)

Also, if you don't have the right plan, you don't get to see what the instructions are talking about. I would lose so much time trying to figure what the reading was talking about, only to find out that I don't get those features with my plan. However, it does not state this when you are doing the activity.

Pretty frustrated with this course. I love that you try to teach people all this new information, but you guys are definitely not teachers!!

I'm just doing this for the certification; I've been doing this for years. Man, is this poorly written and boring! Obviously, it hasn't been proofread ("poject"?), and there are quiz questions that won't accept proper answers. Just because you haven't taught us about domain aliases yet doesn't mean that's not an acceptable way to get a user to receive email from multiple addresses!

I would give 0 stars if I could. I signed up because the course said it covered the admin sdk to provision users. The video was 60 seconds long and referred me to the documentation. The rest of the videos were absolute garbage. This is literally, hands down, the worst online course I have ever seen in my career. Definitely cancelling my account.

You have a lot of wrong answers, and ambiguous questions that do not offer enough insight as Google Workspace is complicated. You need a lot of help on your google courses to keep them current as well, as many of your instructions in the exams are outdated.

The marketing for this course fails to disclose the requirement of the student to acquire a domain name to be used for the Workspace account needed for the course.
