I had issues with grading by peer review. I turned in assignments that met all the criteria. One reviewer would recognize the criteria were met and the other would not. There may be people taking this course that are fragile. I am concerned that peer review is a very bad idea for them. The instructors have no control over what is said in the comments section of the peer review. I strongly recommend that peer review be eliminated from this course.

The course is quite basic and has a lot of peer review assignments. Even though i learnt quite a lot , still wouldn't recommend for someone who is doing a major in psychology

Positive Psychiatry and Mental Health is an emerging field that focuses on the promotion of mental well-being and the enhancement of individual and community resilience, rather than solely focusing on the treatment of mental disorders. This approach emphasizes the importance of understanding and fostering psychological strengths, well-being, and positive mental health outcomes. Key components of Positive Psychiatry and Mental Health include: Strengths-Based Approach: Focusing on individual strengths, resources, and capabilities rather than just on pathology and deficits. This involves identifying and leveraging personal strengths to promote recovery and resilience. Well-Being and Happiness: Understanding mental health as more than the absence of illness; it encompasses overall well-being, life satisfaction, and the ability to lead a fulfilling life. This often involves fostering positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment. Resilience Building: Developing skills and strategies that help individuals cope with stress and adversity. This can involve teaching coping mechanisms, promoting social support, and encouraging adaptive thinking. Preventive Measures: Focusing on prevention and early intervention strategies to reduce the incidence of mental health problems. This includes promoting mental health education, reducing stigma, and addressing social determinants of health. Community and Social Support: Recognizing the importance of social connections and community resources in enhancing mental health. Community support can play a critical role in fostering resilience and well-being. Integration of Mind and Body: Acknowledging the interconnectedness of mental and physical health, and promoting holistic approaches that consider both aspects in treatment and prevention. Research and Evidence-Based Practices: Encouraging ongoing research to better understand the factors that contribute to mental well-being and the effectiveness of various interventions aimed at enhancing positive mental health. In summary, Positive Psychiatry and Mental Health aims to create a more holistic understanding of mental health, focusing not only on the treatment of mental illness but also on the enhancement of mental well-being, resilience, and overall life satisfaction

Positive psychology principles: Understanding concepts like resilience, optimism, gratitude, and mindfulness, and how they can be applied to promote mental well-being. Strength-based approaches: Learning to focus on individuals' strengths rather than solely on deficits or pathology, and using these strengths to foster growth and recovery. Solution-focused techniques: Developing skills in helping individuals identify their goals, explore solutions, and work towards positive outcomes. Psychoeducation: Providing information and education about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for self-care and symptom management. Cognitive-behavioral techniques: Learning methods to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and replace them with more adaptive thoughts and behaviors. Mindfulness and relaxation techniques: Teaching individuals techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, and progressive muscle relaxation to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Communication skills: Enhancing skills in active listening, empathy, and effective communication to build rapport and support individuals in expressing their thoughts and feelings. Cultural competence: Understanding how culture and diversity influence mental health experiences and learning to provide culturally sensitive care. Collaboration and teamwork: Working effectively with other healthcare professionals, support networks, and community resources to provide comprehensive care and support for individuals with mental health concerns. Self-care: Emphasizing the importance of self-care for mental health professionals themselves, including strategies for managing stress, setting boundaries, and seeking support when needed. These skills are typically aimed at helping mental health professionals provide holistic and empowering support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, with a focus on promoting resilience, recovery, and overall well-being.

"Positive Psychiatry and Mental Health" offers a refreshing perspective on mental well-being by focusing on strengths and positive aspects of psychological health. The book’s approach is rooted in the idea that mental health isn’t just the absence of illness but the presence of positive factors that contribute to overall well-being. The authors do a commendable job of integrating evidence-based practices with practical advice, making the content both informative and applicable. Their emphasis on positive psychology, resilience, and proactive strategies for mental health is particularly valuable in a field that often focuses heavily on pathology. One of the strengths of this book is its accessibility. It avoids heavy jargon and presents complex concepts in a way that’s easy to understand for both professionals and lay readers. The case studies and examples provided help illustrate the concepts in a relatable manner. However, while the positive focus is beneficial, there are times when the book might benefit from a more balanced discussion that includes some of the challenges and limitations associated with positive psychiatry. Acknowledging these could provide a more nuanced view of the field. Overall, "positive psychiatry and mental health" is a significant contribution to the field of mental health, offering valuable insights and practical tools for enhancing well-being. It’s a worthwhile read for anyone interested in a more optimistic and strength-based approach to mental health.

I am grateful for the chance to under go the course.
It is well designed course to make learners aware of positive psychiatry, positive mental health and strategies to face challenges of modern day difficulties in a systematic way through Expert Faculty in a very compact way. Videos with transcripts, facility to save notes and quizzes in every video, assignments made me feel that I was attending the course in Sydney University face to face. The structure of assignment system is worth mentioning as it allows you to review your own work again.
Peer review enriched me more as I coul know what others were doing and reviewing helped me in retention of information and subject matter.
The grading system is so fast that you do not have to wait for results. And seeing your assignment graded you are motivated to attempt the next.
I express my gratitude to the Course coordinator, faculty and peers for a pleasant time during the course.
Prompt mail system, encouraging remarks, and motivating atmosphere created in the course from day is praise worthy.

Now that i have got your attention i have this to say about this course :
The course is very basic and by that i mean as the details in the course suggests it is a beginners level course which gives you just an overview and a basic understanding of the course, which for someone who is just starting his/her journey in studying this topic, is just alright. The difficulty level and the pace is just right for such a learner, but for those looking something more deep and intense i would say that this wouldn't be the course to go.
The reading material available in this course is 70/30 meaning 70 percent is accessible and 30 percent which is also a lot of reading resources are not available or 404 error.
Lastly the assignments are a really enjoyable activity, and really pulls out from you what you learnt here. and it takes effort and diligence but in the end its self beneficial.
I would suggest and request to add 4-5 more such assignments.
Thank you

Many thanks to Dr Sonia Kumar and all the lecturers who have successfully put together such an amazing course, imparting their wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of " Positive Psychiatry and Mental Health". I have truly enjoyed this wonderful learning experience and would use this in my profession as a social support worker. I will be taking it to the next level,as I am better prepared with skills and knowledge to get the job done well. I found that this Mental Health awareness is very critical to the well being of our society and nation as a whole. It is very vital to learn and know about the effects of this illness from all aspects ,as it can destroy families ,relationships, and lives of people who are affected. if not diagnosed or untreated without recognizing its initial stages through early detection and interventions could become full blown and destructive to a nation's prosperity of well being .

Course full of complexed knowledge, Course separated into weeks, where each week consists of clearly prepared videos and reading material. Gained knowlege is checked out through assignments. Assignemnts are checked by onther course particpants. Only "minus" of such check outs is that some peers from assignemt are not marked fairly due to not well understanding topic by the person who do the checking. Assignemt is checked twice by two different people , so the final grade is averge of both notes. Anyhow I have done this course also for my self to heal from trauma, to learn how to deal with anxiety, stress. Participation this course helped me a lot, I am more resliant and mindfull person now.

This is a wonderful course! I have enjoyed it so much. It is encouraging to study mental health from the "positive" perspective of seeing each individual as a unique contributor to society instead of someone who is broken and needs to be fixed. You will hear from experts in the field and from those who live with mental health challenges. There are also many excellent resources that are shared throughout- readings, websites, support groups etc.
It is great if you are living with mental illness, are supporting someone who has mental health challenges or just want to learn to live a healthier life yourself. Honestly, I can't say enough about it.

The excellent course learning is compatible with the sustainable development global vision. The holistic approach of the course breaks the shackles of the traditional management of mental illness experiences as something permanent, stigmatic, and stereotypical. Brings the human approach and empowers the affected people with knowledge, coping strategies, and innovative thinking & technological use, and makes them feel part of the community. people with mental illness experience, their careers, and the community they belong to think alike for the value-based better productive future with social inclusion, economic prosperity, and a better climate.

First of all Australia is one of my favorite countries in the world, therefore it was enjoyable to watch the talks in Australian English and get to know about cultural topics. I liked the variety of lecturers because it never got boring. The first two modules were the most interesting to me, but I also enjoyed getting to know information on topics that are not particularly in my field of interest. The assignments were doable, eventhough I sometimes struggled with the separation in different blocks. I would have preferred to write each assignment in a coherent text. Thank you a lot for this awesome course and the focus on positive mental health.
