About the Course

This course will benefit anyone considering a career in allied health, as well as those already working the field. Allied Health Professionals must be committed to the key attributes of professionalism and strive to reflect this within the delivery of patient-centered, safe, and effective care. “Professionalism” is a broad term which reflects many different skills and abilities. For an individual to exhibit professionalism, they must be armed with specific skills and abilities that do not always show up within certification requirements, or even within career training curriculum. Soft skills are hard to measure and are typically less well-defined than hard skills. However, soft skills are what set many job candidates apart. Professionalism is not just what one knows. It is how one does their job, how one behaves, and how one comes across as they interact with others. The purpose of this course is to support students with soft skills training that will provide the tools needed to demonstrate a higher level of professionalism on the job. Key components of the course focus on patient interaction, proper office behavior, medical ethics, diversity and cultural bias, emotional strength, professional appearance, and communication. The course maintains a focus on the key attributes that are true markers of professionalism. This course was created with input from healthcare professionals working in the field, healthcare employers that hire our graduates, professional educators, and even former MedCerts students. The end-result is a collection of modules that touch on the soft skills that are truly important in the real world of allied healthcare. In this course, students are engaged through scenario-based learning that allows for real interaction with virtual coworkers and patients. Additionally, game-based activities keep students engaged and entertained throughout their learning journey....

Course was easy to follow and the quiz questions had been clearly covered in each lesson. I'm not sure how it directly links to Medical Billing and Coding to be the first course in the specialization however. It is mostly common knowledge for anyone who has had any sort of customer service role of any setting.

This course is more about insurance and Billing, a lot of rules and regulations in healthcare. history about the healthcare industry, what books you need for coding and what each books contain. great basics before you to into medical coding or Billing.

Was not too crazy about the animated clips, the voices were very bad. Maybe use real people for those.

Most of it was common sense though maybe new entrants into the workplace need to know this. The person playing Alicia had a monotonous voice and the comp generate image made her seem like a true brown noser. I found the character irritating. Isabel was a caricature. The scenario where she supposedly was yelling at Alicia did not play out as if she were yelling.

This course is a waste of time. It glitches and does not let you proceed to the next step even when you have finished a slide. It even glitches within the slide. Also, another waste of time for those taking this course to learn this specific subject, is that there is so much time wasted on lessons not relating the medical billing and coding - They discuss HR and customer service and general employee success topics. I just want to learn about Medical Billing and Coding... Not about Allied vision, etc. JUST medical billing and coding. And this was not free either. I just stopped the course almost immediately because I kept waiting for the actual meat of the class which was not coming. And what was so horrible, is that you can't even proceed to the next lessons due to their faulty videos that gets stuck (even if you don't skip). It goes back in a loop. A complete waste of time.

Went over what should be basic knowledge, did not feel it contributed to why I signed up to the course (for medical billing and terminology) and the interactive videos did not work very well, it would constantly freeze and I’d have to refresh. Only finished to get the full certificate.
