This is a really great and educative course. It is really amazing. It thought me the fundamental concepts of android apps, both theoretical concepts, and practical concepts. I learned a lot from it.

Would have been great to learn a little more about gradle, and a little bit more about XML.

The final project is filled with bugs. It seems like it's all just rushed together. The wrong activity is used from the beginning of the project to all of the stuff needed done in the project is either wrong, or parts are left out. This needs to be fixed. Not only that, why even bother putting an Android Studio course at the very beginning before going over basic Kotlin? The basic Kotlin course or the Version Control course, should be first. All you're doing is confusing people who have never seen code before or had any understanding of general terms like functions or variables. Explaining them both together in a 4 minute video isn't enough to make new developers understand that sort of stuff. Especially when you haven't even really brought up the idea to them of googling any of this to look further.

The "Introduction to Android Mobile Application Development" course on Coursera is outdated and problematic for novices. The course relies heavily on XML and Android Views, which are no longer the industry standard, as Jetpack Compose has taken over. Beginners waste valuable time converting these old examples to Jetpack Compose, rather than focusing on the core concepts of Android development. This makes the course inefficient and less effective for those aiming to learn the most relevant and up-to-date practices.

The theory part was ok, but the coding was inconsistent and was not explained well enough.

The presenter did not write a line of code in the videos, she just pasted it. And in the next videos and files, the code she started with was different every time.

I did not enjoy it.

Starting the Android development course with app widgets, layouts, services, etc. was heavy and all most unintelligible for me; I can't comment for others. The content is excellent, but the order needs to be corrected. It should come as a third module.

I'm most of the way through, and I would say this course is really not built for the student's success. The videos and readings throw too many concepts at you that are too abstract for a beginner, with no application or context for them. Many of the test questions aim to trick you instead of reinforcing what you've "learned," and others pertain to things that weren't even explained in the videos/readings. It's also not up to date with the latest versions of Android Studio, making it even more confusing to try and follow along. The end of every video tells me: "You should now know how to do xyz," and I can only think, "No, I really don't." It's very confusing, unengaging, and incredibly frustrating. I know what a well designed course looks like and this isn't it. This just feels like it's working against you.

The course material is outdated and lack details. It could also be made clearer by being presented with more examples. The course wants to be too simplistic and does not cover the necessary topics to successfully grasp the subject and be able to successfully complete the end project. Does not bring much.

So instead of MY NAME on the certificate, it's showing "Name" on it. I've already changed my name to Ekta but I've no idea how to reissue the certificate. I'm super tensed right now as I need this certificate for my college. The chat bot just shows the copied text from help center! 😔
