About the Course

This is the second course in the Google Project Management Certificate program. This course will show you how to set a project up for success in the first phase of the project life cycle: the project initiation phase. In exploring the key components of this phase, you’ll learn how to define and manage project goals, deliverables, scope, and success criteria. You’ll discover how to use tools and templates like stakeholder analysis grids and project charters to help you set project expectations and communicate roles and responsibilities. Current Google project managers will continue to instruct and provide you with hands-on approaches for accomplishing these tasks while showing you the best project management tools and resources for the job at hand. Learners who complete this program should be equipped to apply for introductory-level jobs as project managers. No previous experience is necessary. By the end of this course, you will be able to: - Understand the significance of the project initiation phase of the project life cycle. - Describe the key components of the project initiation phase. - Determine a project’s benefits and costs. - Define and create measurable project goals and deliverables. - Define project scope and differentiate among tasks that are in-scope and out-of-scope. - Understand how to manage scope creep to avoid impacting project goals. - Define and measure a project’s success criteria. - Complete a stakeholder analysis and explain its significance. - Utilize RACI charts to define and communicate project team member responsibilities. - Understand the key components of project charters and develop a project charter for project initiation. - Evaluate various project management tools to meet project needs....

Although I took this course first before the foundation of project management I found I have known many terms in my real life so eager to start to learn more in-depth qualities of project management.

The peer-review assignment is hard to navigate and defeats the purpose of the self-paced class.

The worst of it is the activity that classmates will grade.

It is very tardy and unmotivating.

Reviews don't happen in a timely fashion and the certificate shouldn't be held up by this.

The course material is great. However, the graded assignment is a waste of time. You have to have someone else review your work in order to pass the course, but no one ever reviews the course, so I wonder if I am ever going to get the certificate for doing the work. In the discussion, people are begging each other to review their work, so they can move on. I have completed everything and am waiting. Also, part of the assignment is to grade 3-4 other people's assignments, but I went through at least 15 submissions and only 4 of them I could access. Some of the submitted assignments were spam, so I worry about what I brought onto my computer. It took way too much of my time. Also, there were never any answers given for the assignment, so I don't know if what I did was correct. Likewise, we were never given any correct answers for what we were made to correct. I am not impressed that my grade/access to the certificate depends on this criteria.

Horrible experience. The content is not communicative though the subjects chosen were good. The instructor's way of delivery was so pessimistic that it was hard to concentrate on the topic. But if she is a AI bot, it is okay :D The reading material supplied on the course is not properly prepared, so they put many external links to read in the reading materials. That is one of the reasons this course became so boring. Why should I be here if I need to invest lots of time reading out some external links? Please try to see the instructor's style of delivery and course content in Foundations of Project Management. That's why the highest number of people enrolled in that course among the 6 courses of project management courses by Google.

Very upset, very disappointed about one section of this course. Really needs to be re-evaluated. I feel like I am in high school. I thought this course was for changing careers(adulting) etc. The "PEER-GRADING ASSIGNMENTS "aspect is and I quote "STUPID" it's like being in highschool, we are finding the popular kids to like and grade your assignments REALLY!?!? and if you don't find " POPULAR KID " to grade your assignment than your just sitting in limbo waiting and being held up, once again REALLY?!?! How about you keep the same honor system that you have been using throughout the course. Allow the Adults to keep working towards the goals that keep being repeated throughtout the course.

I feel that the content was really good, but it's being wasted. I've completed Module 2 four times because it wouldn't save my progress, and it kept resetting, so I had to redo everything, even reviewing all the content overnight. Additionally, it didn't save my progress, updated the test, and gave me the same grade twice. I never had this issue with the first course, 'Fundamentals of Project Management,' where I successfully completed it with a 92.5%. Unfortunately, this course feels like a waste of time.Additionally, I previously canceled the course, but the subscription was still charged. The content is not good; it's a lose-lose situation.

I completely forgot about the peer graded assignments on Coursera. The Google drive share links and such are rough to work with if you accidentally use a google business suite to share it (restricted access which means nobody can view your submission).

In addition having a whole system that promotes self-development but leaving course progress up to a stranger is idiotic. It's so frustrating to get excited to complete a course but to held back by a "peer assignment" that 5% of people put effort into reviewing. It's an obvious ploy to make people have to wait and ultimately pay past the free trial.

This course was a hard slog and mind-numnbingly dull compared to course 1. A lot of the material was presented in a backwards manner compared to course 1 that made it harder to follow and stay engaged with. It took forever. Wish it had more demos of the software instead of links to trials as I have zero experience. The Basecamp site was the only one with easily accessible info on how it runs. None of the tools appeared to work offline. Disappointing as not an option when internet isn't reliable and no cloud access. Not going to work on a ship in international waters.

The peer review system is extremely confusing and not necessarily fair. When I texted a friend to get some help, she said she couldn't figure it out and gave up. I THINK another student gave me a non-passing grade, but I'm not really sure.

I appreciate how affordable the program is, but this aspect needs work. I have seen similar comments in various forums online that date back years. My perception is that nobody at Google/Coursera cares about this particular concern.

Sincerely,

Peg Morrison

Was not as organized as course 1 & 3. The information in both of these courses was well organized in the powerpoint slides in the videos, course 2 lacked this big time, i found it hard to differentiate between what information should be remembered or taken as notes and the instructor presented the information in a circle... i found the course challenging not because the information wasn't there but because of the way it was presented.

Very poor guidance. Emails directing me to Submission page, where is that? There is a button that says submission for Course 2 Week 2 but no where can you click and paste a link? Asked for help and the gives me directions to go to submission tab. Really? Where? This not anything like I thought it would be considering it's Google. Very poorly put together. I regret my decision to use Google for this certification for PM entry level.

I have attempted the assignment within this course 6 times and the robots that are grading are not properly review the information within the document. I have reviewed my work numerous times and users are selecting 0 points when I have inputted 3 points within the requirement. I dislike this process and believe it is highly flawed and holding me back from passing the course. I will not recommend this course at all.

Course was fine until I realized it required "Peer" review. I have taken 100's of online courses over the last 20 twenty years and not once was "Peer" review a requirement. I do not do Peer review it is a waste of my time, as well as the security issues. If I had known that this was a big part of Coursera's methodology, I would never joined the site in the first place, Big mistake on my part.
