About the Course

This course is designed to teach you the foundations in order to write simple programs in Python using the most common structures. No previous exposure to programming is needed. By the end of this course, you will understand the benefits of programming in IT roles; understand basic Python syntax; explore different code editors and developer environments; be able to write simple programs using Python; figure out how the building blocks of programming fit together; and combine all of this knowledge to solve a complex programming problem. We'll start off by diving into the basics of writing a computer program. Along the way, you’ll get hands-on experience with programming concepts through interactive exercises and real-world examples. You’ll quickly start to see how computers can perform a multitude of tasks — you just have to write code that tells them what to do....

This is actually a really great start for beginners in python. I am an intermediate python developer so for me it was too basic, but still a nice refresher for all the basics that we sometimes forget.

Course presentation is good. Topic selection is good. Selected Strings, Lists, tuples and Dictionaries, using these program logic can be build. Examples are good and interesting. assignments are good.

Lot's of technical difficulties but in the end made it through. I will note that I have a strong background in Python and am taking this as part of another cert. Someone less familiar with python would likely get much more frustrated with the technical issues.

Edit: I went back to this course after I learned the basics of Python programming, and now it was easier to do. I give it one star extra but my earlier review still stands: In theory, this is a good course, with short videos and exercises during the videos as well as many practice tests but there is a large gap between the videos and what you have to do for the exercises. I recommend Google to include more simple and repeating exercises with a slightly different code to enable students to see what it does. Programming is hard and takes time to click in your brain. Watching a video doesn't mean it will enable you to write those programs yourself. Making the exercises difficult is very demotivating.

This course is unexpectedly frustrating. Instead of interesting real-world examples as promised in the course description here is maths, maths and only maths. It's not for beginners at all. Tasks are to fill the gaps in the existing code instead of writing code yourself. Not all examples are clearly explained. Syntax is explained very briefly. In generally it feels more like Python for Maths than Crash Course on Python.

The course is amazing but could have been more elucidate. The composition part of OOP is not at all explained that way. And there were many assignments, which were actually very easy, but I wasted hours on them because the instructions were not clear. Also, fewer examples have been shown here compared to assignments.

The order of lessons is not necessarily optimal. Some of the problems it introduces you to in certain weeks don't get introduced until the next section. The practice problems also are not broken down in depth prior to being introduced to the student. The videos go into the core concepts and then throw you into a mor ecomplex example so some steps were missed before throwing you in. I had to rely on stack overflow to go over some of the concepts and why certain code is framed the way it is

Fun videos, crappy teaching. You would be better off getting a good book on python and skip the google torture. Very, very buggy; site programming failed on numerous instances. I graduated B.S. Computer Science with high honors and hold multiple degrees in the sciences. There are better ways to learn programming.

Definitely struggled with this course. I've gotten multiple certs in IT but no programming background. Think this course might be better off for people with slight exposure to Python before. If there were just a couple of more breakdowns or explanations for functions that would help a lot.

its super hard to follow if you are newbie in programming especially haven't code in python. The example the instructor gave are so simple but when it come to quiz its super hard. Please fix this, we need practice from simpler task up to more complex task.

I wish it had been a little more clear, the week 6 assignment was extremely tough because a lot of us couldn't get the browse button to show up and the code was very tough for what we learned.

The answers to the tests are right, but if you don't write the code out just like the test wants it, it can be very frustrating. I don't think the creators of this program know anytihng about pedagogy. This was too much frustration for teaching one simple programming language.

A waste of time. None of them seem to be a real professor, there's ZERO didactic strategy. Only face expressions and fake smiles with a premade script.

I couldn't follow up in the second week of the course. My opinion it's just too difficult for beginners

From the very beginning, the course structure was clear and easy to follow. Each lesson was broken down into manageable chunks, and the accompanying videos were engaging and informative. The course material was presented in a way that was easy to understand, even for someone with no previous programming experience.

I particularly appreciated the way the course built upon itself, starting with the basics of Python syntax and gradually introducing more advanced concepts as the course progressed. This made it easy for me to understand and retain the material, and I felt a sense of accomplishment as I moved through the course.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this course and feel that I have gained a strong foundation in Python programming as a result. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to learn Python, whether they are a beginner or more experienced programmer. Thank you to the Google instructors and the Coursera team for putting together such a well-organized and engaging course.

I've taken crash courses before so I was expecting them to go fast and not go too deep in the fundamentals, which is basically what this course is. I recommend to take a basic Python course, let it marinade, then take this course (which is what I did). The course starts slow but quickly picks up in week 3. Some quiz questions are too vague and I think a couple have bugs, but thankfully, I didn't need a grade of 100 to pass unlike other courses that I've taken. I wasn't sure if I should take this course as reading some negative comments made me think twice but I think this is a really good course and I'm glad I took it. I just hope the next courses are as good. On to the next one!

I recently took the Crash Course on Python and I have to say it was a great experience. The instructors were knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining the material in a clear and concise manner. The course was well-structured and covered a wide range of topics, including basic syntax, data types, and object-oriented programming. I particularly appreciated the hands-on exercises and projects, which helped me to apply what I was learning and solidify my understanding of the concepts. Overall, I highly recommend this Python crash course to anyone looking to learn the language quickly and effectively.

The teacher is just amazing! if I'm gonna be a teacher, I am gonna be one like her. She's very enthusiastic and makes it more comfortable to learn. Overall the course was great, the assignments can be very tricky and hard for someone new to programming. The final assignment was tough especially since I wasn't familiar with Jupyter notebook but it all worked out, def needs some patience. It was overall worth it, Thank you google, Thank you coursera!

Fantastic course for the novice programmer wanting to learn the basics of Python. Videos were high-quality, up-to-date, and engaging. The best part of the course was the hands-on approach it took to programming. You got to consistently write REAL code to perform computing tasks. I'd highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to get more familiar with the foundational aspects of Python.

I've joined the course, having programming background, but it was 30 years ago :-) I did procedure programming and the OOP opened for me a new world. I don't know, if I'll be working as a software engineer, but now I'm sure, that my project management work will become more efficient and automated. Thanks a lot! Excellent teacher and efficient metodology.

Firstly, I believe that this course wil not cover all the things, So after some time lose energy to keep this on. But after 3 weeks of lecture I understand this course is amazing regardless of not going deep into this.

Thank you Instuctor Ma'am to explain it in a cool way as you are.

A lot of thanks to Coursera and Google to provide such courses.

It is the best and easiest place to learn Python. I used to fall asleep at learning how to program when I was in college but now (I hope it's never too late to learn) I am learning faster because this program explains and teach me in a way I can understand and appreciate programming again. A must have if you want to start a new path.

I had so much fun in this course. At times it was a bit challenging but pushing through was an exciting battle. Even though I have been doing coding in the past, I've learnt a lot of new techniques in this course. Sometimes it's good to just start over.
