About the Course

This is the fifth course in the Google Data Analytics Certificate. In this course, you’ll explore what it means to actually analyze your data. You’ll take what you’ve learned up to this point and apply it to make sense of the data you’ve collected. You’ll learn how to organize and format your data using spreadsheets and SQL to help you look at and think about your data in different ways. You’ll also find out how to perform complex calculations with your data to address business objectives. You’ll learn how to use formulas, functions, and SQL queries as you conduct your analysis. Current Google data analysts will continue to instruct and provide you with hands-on ways to accomplish common data analyst tasks with the best tools and resources. Learners who complete this certificate program will be equipped to apply for introductory-level jobs as data analysts. No previous experience is necessary. By the end of this course, learners will: - Learn how to organize data for analysis. - Understand the processes for formatting and adjusting data. - Explore how to aggregate data in spreadsheets and by using SQL. - Use formulas and functions in spreadsheets to make data calculations. - Learn how to complete calculations using SQL queries....

Very good and useful practice of SQL. The JOIN party is pretty hardcore so I definitely couldn't master it but got enough of an understanding where I could learn quickly with some on the job training.

An excellent course for learning analysis techniques using Spreadsheets and SQL. Recommended for all engineering and data science students as well as for those managing businesses and human resource.

Lots and Lots of Google Sheets and not that much analysis . If you wanted to use Microsoft Excel it would have taken you much more time and Googling to complete the assignments. I think it would just be more beneficial to us if the future courses were done in excel as more companies prefer it than Sheets.

I would rate this course either 4 or 5 stars if the audio quality were improved (the audio is too low) and if the examples provided were simpler and explained more thoroughly and understandably. I found it challenging to grasp complex concepts like nested queries because they were not explained clearly.

Pace is too fast and difficulty ramped up compared to previous courses. Some lessons were repetitive and seems disorganized and rushed compared to the first 4 courses. Not enough practice and reinforcement of new functions encountered since the activities are mainly copy-pasting complex queries.

There was some lack of clarity in the written activity and assignment instructions and the presenter isnt as natural as for the previous courses. Overall, the course is very helpful in advancing knowledge of data analytics generally, and specfically in problem solving, SQL and Google Sheets.

There are a lot of mistakes in the video, and the instructor's teaching method is very rushed or not explained clearly. Most of the time, I have to read and try to learn by myself. Also, the sound while teaching and comparing in each clip is not stable; sometimes it is too loud or too low.

Wasn't a fan of the instructor, barely any guidance in excel. I understand they want us to use Sheets, but the lack of guidance in excel made everything much more difficult for someone trying to learn the course through excel. The previous courses were better in that regard in my opinion.

The pressure to use BigQuery, along with its distinct syntax compared to standard SQL, compelled me to learn how to create my own databases using Python and DuckDB. While I value the encouragement to self-learn, I believe it would have been more beneficial to receive formal instruction.

Getting from spreadsheets to SQL is something I have found very hard. I think that you need to add some extra video lessons with focus on SQL syntax. It is great to learn the logic of the SQL and to ask ChatGPT to write you the code you are needing, but I think that is not the point.

The problem with this course is using BigQuery. Had a lesson refer to a dataset that wasn't available as a Public Dataset "Austin BikeShare". Using BigQuery is too cumbersome. Being able to type out SQL syntax in a small window to get results is a much user-friendly experience.

So far course 5 is the most confusing one. It is not for beginners; the instructor just jumps on to typing queries. I wish SQL queries were discussed further. A lot of data sets given in the exercises are nowhere to be found. I wish this course gets reviewed and revised by google.

The course had many repetitive concepts. Pivot tables and SQL sections were repetitive. The Questions were not well presented. 13 Questions!!! ...all of them linked to one scenarion with alot of paragraphs is a sure way to make a student lose his train of thought and comprehension

The beginning of this video was exciting. I had a lot to learn but i had issues with the video, some part of the video, i couldn't hear the instructor and the cut out was too much which made the video part unenjoyable. But from week 4, it was all great. learnt a lot.

This course is way too outdated. I did learn a lot at once, but all of the examples need updated and there needs to be more theory on the "Why". Too often I felt like I was just copying the instructor because they were not explaining anything while entering queries.

Overall, a good course, but in some VERY IMPORTANT parts, the instructor was very quick to explain and skip steps ASSUME that we already have this knowledge. I also ask you to update topics, since for example VLOOKUP is now easier and fewer errors when using XLOOKUP

I didn't realize which one part was about analyzing data. It actually was the same information from previous lectures a little bit extended. It confuses, perplexes and tangles when you are receiving repeating SQL clauses named as an analyzing content.

The topics are great, but the instructor went super quick and also in some parts was just silence, and she just put the query without a proper explanation. Love the instructor of course 4 in this one too! She was so nice and easy to follow.

Sometimes felt like I was learning SQL backwards from how I should have been. Learning operators and basic math functions practically at the end of the course felt wrong and not helpful. This wasn't as well structured as the other courses.

There is too much packed in one course as a result there is no justice done to any topic. May break this course into at least 2 parts.

Plus the topic of data validation is covered again which should have been covered in the earlier courses.

This course suffered from many more editing errors and weird sound than the others. I also felt like the way it taught SQL was really surface level. Lots of copy-pasting and less problem solving. The links to extra practice were essential.

Could have been better if few topics were not forcefully stretched and make it boring or irritating sometimes. Few things were repeated unnecessarily. Would have been happy if things were made a little interesting. Rest overall was good.

The instructor was skipping functions and was too fast with the lectures making it hard to keep up with. The course opened up with many useful contents to get familiar with SQL and Spreadsheet, but the instructor made it hard to follow.

Compared to the other courses of the specialization so far this was a bit confusing as it suddenly introduces SQL queries or formulas that were never mentioned before. In any case, it still helps you learn a lot of new stuff.

The audio during this course was not as great as the previous courses. There were also many errors throughout the course and also many errors during the final course challenge. It makes learning as a beginner very difficult.

I felt that this was the weakest course in this certificate program so far. A lot of the example code had syntax errors (lack of proofreading perhaps), and some of the code didn't seem to run properly in BigQuery Sandbox.

Easily the most difficult so far. However, this is mostly due to the clarity of the content presented and the order it is presented -not the concepts discussed. Use the included resources and forums to avoid frustration.
