The course was incredibly informative. I am glad that I got the opportunity to study in a course on statistics from Stanford University itself. I thank the creators and participants of the course!

The lectures were clear and thorough, with a good amount of examples. The quizzes were excellent, and I learned a lot from the feedback. One of the best Coursera courses I have ever taken!

This course is indeed for beginners, the instructor has led us through some of the key concepts in statistics and explained quite well. For example, I once had trouble understanding the meaning of the Bayesian formula, but I got it after watching the video. There is almost no difficult math (no calculus nor linear algebra) and all is explained in plain and intuitive language. Having said that, I hope the modules can be extended to ~1 hour, as the instructor sometimes made "jumps" and I had to stop the video to think about it and take notes. Also, I think it will be better to introduce more topics like the Maximum Likelihood, and more details about the common distributions (which I used statistics textbooks to help me understand). Another problem is the translation. At first, I tried the Chinese subtitle but it turned out that many statistical terms were not translated correctly. Same problem with the quiz. I have to switch to the English version later on.

of the medical industry is insightful even though his interventions are really short.

Why four stars and not five. Three main reasons. The course is really short and in my opinion, sometimes lack of explanations and details. I really had to re watch a video three or four times from time to time to be sure I understood the concepts even though not difficult I wanted to be sure I understood. Besides, he test can be retaken as many times as you desire which can sometimes create the incentive to answer randomly. Finally the course is not include in the coursera plus package that I own.

A good introductory course covering many of the essential concepts in statistics. I think the course could have benefited from a bit more perspective on how various topics fit together, e.g. summarizing data, probability and statistical inference and in one or two places the order seemed somewhat contrived. Professor Walther, while not the most exciting personality, was obviously brilliant on the subject and did an admirable job of making it accessible to mere mortals like myself.

The material presented is of good quality, though occasionally requires hearing a few times to comprehend. My biggest critique, and reason for withholding a star, is the lack of practice questions to help reinforce the material. There is a quiz at the end of each section, but it's essentially just a topic review and many are only concept questions. True learning, in my opinion, requires both instruction AND application of information.
