After taking this course, I can see where & how I can apply my skills and love for numbers. I am confident in my decision and cant wait to put all the pieces together.

Thank you, Coursera & Intuit!

This course was well put together. I used to feel so intimidated by finances. The interactive videos and practice exercises do a fantastic job of explaining concepts learned throughout this course.

This course was good for providing an overall view of the bookkeeping process, but there were many frustrations and errors throughout. Checking the forums for answers, I've found that the same problems with incorrect answers and incomplete information have persisted for years without being fixed. While the course did give me some knowledge, it gave me more anxiety than it was worth. I'm surprised that a company as big as Intuit would release such shoddy educational resources. I'm a good student so I persisted in figuring things out on my own, which caused a 1-hour case study to turn into 3 or 4 hours of work (maybe more). I feel bad for anyone who may have invested in this program but was unable to put in the time to research their own information just to complete this course. Even the meager $24.50 I spent was not worth the cost. I would not recommend anyone taking this as their intro to bookkeeping as it would probably discourage them enough to turn them off to the career choice.

The narrator is incredibly annoying. She is grating, uses childish language and does not reflect a 'professional standard' behaviour or attitude. There are a number of typos in the texts accompanying the videos that should have been caught and corrected. And at the very end is the ONLY place that you find out that the 'intuit exam' which is offered 'free' is only available for students in the US despite the fact that students outside the US can sign up with Coursera itself and take courses. If Coursera wishes to have students outside of the US then it should either not align itself with other providers which don't, or should make the limitations clear. Annoyed.

Material is easy to understand and very basic. The assignments are just ok. I find videos very annoying because I never know if they contain useful information or if this is just 2 minutes wasted on entertainment, goofy jokes, etc. I'd rather have something to the point. Some of the material was split up too much with too many 1-2 minute videos. 5-10 minute video to the point with relevant information and less entertainment would be better. I tried to cut down on clutter and watched some at faster speed or was able to skip ahead. Overall, this whole basic course doesn't have much substance and should be just one module of another.

Although a good deal of information in the course was delivered relatively clearly, the means by which to collect data in the ledger, and then the trial balance, was not. It would have helped if the course focused more on helping learners understand the mechanics beneath moving numbers from the journal into the ledger, and then moving those same figures into the trial balance. Perhaps if the course provided more opportunities for the learner to practice arithmetic and/or categorisation in exercises to understand how figures ended up in the trial balance

There's little to nothing to read. Nearly all of the lessons force you to watch an unbearable, unlikeable, and obnoxious cartoon character. A simple downloadable PDF with the required information would have been more than enough to suffice. This course could be condensed to about a third of its present length and filled with more relevant material. We're adult learners, not 5 year olds who need loud noises and distracting colors to keep us engaged.

The content of the course is good. It is easy to follow and to learn. I am disappointed that I am located in Canada and nowhere leading up to the first exam did it say I could not take it based on my location. As for the certification, I am not too upset about it. I would have liked to take the exam to see how I am progressing and if I understand the content. At bare minimum, allow the exam but don't issue a certification.

It's fantastic that you can audit this course for free to understand the basics of accounting and quickbooks; but be warned that the majority of the material is presented by an animated, supernanny-meets-accounting "tv series". I was really hoping for professional lectures, and I'm disappointed by the way the course is taught. Maybe this is just how the first course runs...we shall see.

Meh. Not really very hands-on or repetitive. For tactile learners, it is really lacking imo. Too many videos and cutesy stuff and not enough actual learning. Bianca is kind of rude and annoying. Quite a few incorrect terms and typos which could confuse others. I feel like I would learn more just by using QuickBooks and practicing. Don't really feel like I learned much.

The topic is interesting and made it clear enough, short videos which are good, but I feel like we are being talked to as if we were children and as I am not 4 years old anymore, I feel it is difficult to continue. They made the course simple and accessible but the way of speaking is not for me and I have to score down.

In my opinion, more detailed, hands on examples are necessary. At the end of "four weeks" I still struggled with the nuts and bolts of ledger and trial balance entries. There are little interactive lessons throughout, but these are extremely basic and didn't really prepare me for the more difficult exercise at the end.

Week 1 & Week 4 were interesting and had some take away from them. But overall a disappointing course as it's main focus is not to teach Bookkeeping Basics but to Advertise Intuit's Quickbooks. It's a waste of money. I did not sign up for this course to see advertisements but to learn about Accounting.

Learned a lot but the spreadsheets don't work so the final is very difficult because you don't just have to do the entries you have to make the spreadsheet formulas work too which is difficult since I barely know what I'm doing. If I had no other experince I would have not been able to finish.

The course often asks you to complete tasks that have never been shown as an example (for example, recording journal entries in Excel). I had to supplement this course with other free videos or explanations I could find in order to understand what was being asked of me.

When I get answers wrong in the quiz, it just tells me what the right answer should be without telling me why - that's a huge learning opportunity missed. A course that I'm paying for, should be utilizing that opportunity; it's what I'm paying for

There is some valuable information in here but you have to get through a very irritating cartoon to get it. The course (and learners) would be better served to get rid of the cartoon and the 'quirky' character and just teach the material.
