About the Course

Spreadsheet tools like Excel are an essential tool for working with data - whether for data analytics, business, marketing, or research. This course is designed to give you a basic working knowledge of Excel and how to use it for analyzing data. This course is suitable for those who are interested in pursuing a career in data analysis or data science, as well as anyone looking to use Excel for data analysis in their own domain. No prior experience with spreadsheets or coding is required - all you need is a device with a modern web browser and the ability to create a Microsoft account to access Excel online at no cost. If you have a desktop version of Excel, you can also easily follow along with the course. Throughout this course, you'll gain valuable experience working with data sets and spreadsheets. We'll start by introducing you to spreadsheets like Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, and show you how to load data from multiple formats. From there, you'll learn how to perform basic data wrangling and cleansing tasks using functions, and expand your knowledge of data analysis through the use of filtering, sorting, and pivot tables. There is a strong focus on practice and applied learning in this course. With each lab, you'll have the opportunity to manipulate data and gain hands-on experience using Excel. You'll learn how to clean and format your data efficiently, and convert it into a pivot table to make it more organized and readable. The final project will allow you to showcase your newly acquired data analysis skills by working with real data sets and spreadsheets. By the end of this course, you'll have a solid foundation in using Excel for data analysis. You'll have worked with multiple data sets and spreadsheets, and will have the skills and knowledge needed to effectively clean and analyze data without having to learn any code. So let's get started!...

The course was very interesting and educating. I learnt a lot of things i didn't about Excel. The shortcuts and different ways to do things were really cool.

Thanks to Coursera and IBM.

Really good and useful course to get more familiar with Excel. I wish there was better feedback to/from peers on the last assignment and how to grade... But that is just a minor opinion of mine :)

Super basic. You could probably learn more by watching a couple of videos on YouTube. All the videos in this course are using Excel Desktop, but then for the labs it wants you to use Excel Online since that is free and everyone can use it. It would be better if they just used the desktop version for everything and say that you can use the online version if you want. It notes there are slight differences between the online version and the desktop version, but there are already differences between the online version they used in screenshots versus the online version that is used now since it is constantly updated.

The course itself was ok, though indeed very basic. However the final assignment was quite frustrating. Some instructions related to Excel on the web were inaccurate (probably outdated). Moreover, the assignment required to use Remove Duplicates, where the table have not got any unique row identifier. Due to that it was impossible to remove duplicates that way and people should not be graded for this point.

The course is helpful, particularly if you have never really used pivot tables. The course would benefit from visual examples (screenshots) in the hands on labs descriptions. Additionally, some of the methodology for removing duplicates should be revised. Teaching users to remove duplicates on a single variable or non-identifier variable can lead to erroneous deletion of data.

The big knock of the cert program is the absence of real peer discussion and the hollow semblance of providing something like that at the very beginning. When a learner encounters natural difficulties, we have only our individual means to figure them out. That indicates to me a very plausible reason why an entry-level cert program only has a 30% new career rate.

I recently completed the free Coursera course on Data Analytics for Excel Basics, and it was incredibly informative and practical. The instructors were engaging, and the hands-on exercises really reinforced my learning. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to build a strong foundation in data analytics using Excel.

la trducción falla en varios momentos por lo que no permite la mejor comprensión, sobretodo en las formulas y en cuanto a los examenes al tener conocimiento del idioma pude superar las dificultades pero una persona con un nivel bajo en ingles puede verse frustrada

In the part of the course where excel functions are explained, there is no explanation as to what should this functions include. In Hands-on Labs there are only instructions what to write but no explanation as to what these things stand for.

Videos very informative, alot of informatiion in each section. Maybe it can be broken down a little more to be more easily understood, the hands on excersises were a bit confusing and jumbled for me. Tried my best with the Finals.

Course is overall okay and I learnedo some useful skills. I didn't like automatic voiceover and I was under impression that whole narration is quite chaotic. There are better courses on Coursera I am attending right now.

In the final assignment it is confusing that one is supposed to download a new file for part 2 - I did all the analysis on the resulting clean file from part 1 and because of this I did not get a full score....

Good class if you have never used MS Excel before. It should be called "Excel Basics". Period. Nothing is "Data Analysis" specific. This should be a prerequisite for the certification, not a mandatory class.

AI review should be an option for all courses in Coursera. Peer reviewing is not trustworthy, and often done incorrectly, which is unfair to the person submitting their work, not to mention frustrating.

It's good, covers all excel basics; but it does get a little fast and explanations become a little shallow around Pivot Tables. For an absolutely new excel beginner, the course might seem a bit daunting

#1.Needs more thorough explanations on some of the complicated formulas such as the use of quotations, etc.

#2. The instructions in the Graded Assignment 1 were not clear.

The course was very informative, but does need more succinct language to better understand the steps. I do have a concern on which version of Excel is needed.

Course was OK but labs weren't very useful. The instructions were too literal with little to none explanations of the purpose of each step.
