About the Course

Design a User Experience for Social Good and Prepare for Jobs is the seventh and final course in a program that will equip you with the skills you need to become an entry-level UX designer. In this course, you will design a dedicated mobile app and a responsive website focused on social good. You will showcase all that you’ve learned during the certificate program to complete the design process from beginning to end: empathizing with users, defining their pain points, coming up with ideas for design solutions, creating wireframes and prototypes, and testing designs to get feedback. By the end of this course, you will have a new cross-platform design project to include in your professional UX portfolio. This course will also prepare you to land your first job as a UX designer. You’ll learn how to interview for entry-level UX design positions. You’ll get tips from Googlers based on their own interview experiences and their unique perspectives as hiring managers. And, you’ll polish the professional UX portfolio you’ve been building throughout the program so that it’s ready for job applications. Current UX designers and researchers at Google will serve as your instructors, and you will complete hands-on activities that simulate real-world UX design scenarios. Learners who complete the seven courses in this certificate program should be equipped to apply for entry-level jobs as UX designers. By the end of this course, you will be able to: - Apply each step of the UX design process (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test) to create designs focused on social good. - Identify the differences between dedicated mobile apps and responsive web apps. - Understand progressive enhancement and graceful degradation approaches for designing across devices. - Build wireframes, mockups, and low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes. - Add a new design project to your professional UX portfolio. - Create your portfolio of design work for job applications. - Join and participate in online UX communities. - Interview for an entry-level UX design job. - Determine if freelance design work is a good career fit for you. - Learn AI skills from Google experts to help complete UX design tasks. This course is suitable for beginner-level UX designers who have completed the previous six courses of the Google UX Design Certificate....

This course was very helpful/useful. It was good preparation in pursuit of working in the field. Knowing how to design for users is one thing. Knowing how to navigate todays hiring process is another.

Great experience, this certificate help me to understand from start to finish the UX design process. Furthermore, how to put those skills into practice with real case studies. I highly recommended it.

It contained a lot of repeat content that took time to go through. Some of the assignments and readings linked to past courses and i think that model should have been utilized a lot more. I also think there should be more safeguards for trolls that will just give you 0s for peer review for no reason. There should at the very least be a way to report them for that behaviour when their feedback doesn't apply to the submission. Otherwise i think the course was very well put together, if not a little coddling. It would be nice if there was a way to test out of courses that the user is already proficient in like using Adobe XD. That said I can tell how much time it took to put all these courses together so thank you for providing this to us!

The course is valuable, but I think it would be better if there were: a) more direct feedback from professionals in the area, about our work, about our interview answers, about our portfolios, etc

b) more graded assignments - I expect some people just click that they've completed assignments when they actually haven't, which could undermine the prestige of the certificate

c) a portal for jobs available to people taking the course outside of the USA. of the perks of completing this course is only accessible for people eligible to work in the USA, which is a pretty geographically-limited benefit (ie many people will not feel the benefit)

Good Morning Google UX team, I greatly enjoyed your course and it will definitely help me in my job seeking endeavors. The reason for the 4 stars is that Module 3 was like two modules in one and it is possible to make the module challenge be the end of Module3 and have all of the other sections of Module 3 into another module or possibly Certificate Wrap -up or have the section on "AI Google" be a separate Section a lot like a module. I make this suggestion for clarification that this section is a "new evolution update" as the UX Design sphere is always evolving to meet the needs of its' users and companies.

Great course; challenging and AMAZINGLY informative if you're a self-starter. The peer grading system works for the numbers served...but it wouldn't be ideal for a student who lacks self-discipline. However, I LOVED the course, and it prepared me VERY well to contribute more to my workplace. Thank you for offering me an affordable opportunity to earn such a well-respected and value-packed certificate!

This was good but for experienced UI/UXers who are already working in the field and who already have portfolios, please consider one of the following: 1) Offer this course as optional 2) Have courses 6 & 7 tied to a different UI/UX certficate (much like the structure of the Data Analysis I & II courses). Otherwise, solid course with solid information and advice. Thank you

I really like google course. I only have few things to comment that I really want not only glossery word that you wrap up, but also the useful links /ressources that the course mention before, once I cant remember the website that you suggest about avatar illustration, and I also cant remember which week I should find. ( I already find it )

Thank you!

I love the project idea, however this course is DENSE. They've practically included all the work of the six prior classes and requested you put that effort into another separate project. It's a lot. More than I think should be expected in a class. But overall, I'm glad I got through it and designed something pretty cool.
