Evidence-based research and engaging lecture content, coupled with weekly challenges, made for an exceptional learning experience. Most of the "strategies" shared were things I thought I already knew. But to have those strategies clearly explained and backed by scientific research, it made incorporating them into my daily life easy and exciting! I feel better than I have in a long time and am happy to be thoroughly engaged in the lifelong, ever-changing, dynamic pursuit of happiness and wellbeing.

Backed by years of research, the information and skills you learn in this course can help you to direct your own happiness, if you're willing to put in the time. You get to learn on your own time and there are great ways to find out more information. This is appealing to all learners in that you can read, watch more videos and take notes as you'll need them to help you through the quizzes. I've learned valuable information that weill help me in my work to become more mindful and increase my joy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course and feel that everyone could benefit from it. The style of course delivery is informal which makes the content more approachable, and this is complemented by the fact that the topics covered are relevant to everyday life and therefore hold your attention. I even enjoyed the additional reading material and videos and I have signed up to the Happiness Lab podcast. Of all the Coursera courses I signed up to, this is the one I looked forward to learning more about.

Great instructor and a good insight of what balance really helps you to find a sustainable way to include new behaviors which will help you to be more aware with yourself and your surrounding. Also the facts and studies really helped to become a good feeling of the thought that happiness is YOUR own choice and not the choice of your life circumstances and people who surround you (just saying...40% is under your control and just 10% of the feeling of happiness comes from your life circumstances!).

Very insightful first half talking about research on well-being and positive psychology. I liked the academic context for this rich subject and learned so much such as how our minds are so bad at estimating what will make us happy. Money, a good grade, a good job, a big house...all those are illusions that don't really make us happy.

My favorite part was the second half which focused on what DOES make us happy - things like being kind, social connection, meditation, exercise, time with loved ones.

I truly enjoyed the content given in this course. The science presented to authenticate the seemingly insignificant changes to promote daily well- being were very convincing. The fact that I truly experienced improvement in overall well- being and level of happiness while completing the challenges given has encouraged me to continue to practice what I have learned. I may even repeat this course in a year for the motivation alone! Thank you for making this course so easily assessable online.

I believe this course can be of value to many individuals seeking not only knowledge but actionable tools or resources to help them develop and improve their overall well-being. This course provided me a plethora of different options (diverse) and provided actionable steps to support the student in the journey. And at the end of the course one can measure their progress and use tools to continue long after the course has ended to continue their development and improvement. I highly recommend!

I have LOVED participating in this course with my co-worker. It has been thought provoking, challenging and refreshing all at the same time. These are skills and practices that can be used at any stage in life, and are truly foundational life-skills and knowledge needed for an abundant life! I am so grateful to the research, time and effort that has gone into the field of psychology to not only understand our species, but also to make us better and understand ourselves and others along the way.

This course show why so many people are unhappy. They are focussing on all kinds of things that really do not contribute to sustainable happiness. This course helps you discover what actually does help to be more happy and focussed in life. And while the solutions seem easy at first, it is quite hard to set up routines to keep them in place. Fortunately the course also recognises that challenge and takes care of it. I recommend this course to anyone who would like to feel a bit happier in life.

I think it's a very benificial lesson for any learners or psychology students. I liked the techniques in this course and it seems we don't really act upon our happiness. We say we want happiness but in order to be that we need to use some technics. For me this course helped me. I tell people around me these techniques. When the first year of my psych. education in Turkey i watched Moralities of everyday life's lessons of Yale, now i a a graduated find another amazing lesson. Thank you so much !

Incredibly informative material and really easy to digest, but you'll only get out of this course what you put in. Merely knowing the information is not enough to change behaviour.

With that said, I did learn that what I thought would make me happiest is almost counter intuitive to what can actually make me more happy.

Highly recommended for anyone who can see benefits in feeling more upbeat, more aware, more energetic and simply happier on a day-to-day basis.

Thanks Laurie for a great course!

This was a great course, not only did I learn from the professor but I learned a different perspective on items of interest by other taking the course. I would recommend this course to as many people as possible. I recommended this course to my youngest daughter and I hope that I can keep looking at the course course material for a while.

I wish, I could be one of the people who could teach this curriculum, but I am not a teacher although I do teach many people as a recreational therapist.

I have already come across this information and I am a particularly flexible and well adapted individual, however I found the lectures to be engaging and the science to be very interesting. It also helped me start a habit I have wanted to do for a while and hadn't quite managed to incorporate in my busy life. I definitely recommend the course if you are in a transition moment in your life, or just want to take a moment to look back at your life an evaluate how much you have to be grateful for.

This class was exactly what I needed to hear to have the confidence and excitement to go back to school. I have found a new way to be happy and am not so focused on what is making everyone else happy. I now know what makes me happier. A lot of the material is validation in things that we might hear all the time but need to be reminded of how important they are to your well being. You will not be disappointed in this course if you take the time to listen and pay attention to what speaks to you.

The content is excellent and comprehensive. The lectures are spot on -- very little Default Mode Network action when I was watching and listening. This course prompted me to read Seligman's book "Flourish" and Michal Cz..'s book "Creativity" (And I listened to his Youtube about Flow.) Laurie introduced me to a world overflowing with important, vital knowledge. The structure of the course is also excellent -- it is human friendly -- intuitive and enjoyable. Laurie Santos -- you are the best.

I am SOOOO FRUSTRATED!! I loved the course. BUT IT KEEPS TELLING ME I HAVE NOT COMPLETED IT WHEN I HAVE SUBMITTED ALL ASSIGNMENTS, DONE MULTIPLE PEER REVIEWS, AND HAVE COMPLETED EVERYTHING I CAN FIND TO COMPLETE. and worst of all, THERE SEEMS TO BE NO HUMAN COMPONENT TO HELP WITH THIS ISSUE. I liked the idea of Coursera, but the fact that one cannot contact a live human for assistance and there is no way to find solutions to my issues makes me never want to take an other course here. GRRRR.

This was an outstanding course. I enjoyed the journey and the outcome was more than I expected. My Authentic Happiness Score improved from 2.8 to 3.46. Meditation is now a part of my day. Dr. Santos is a treasure. I am a member of a teaching circle at Ivy Tech Community College in Kokomo, Indiana. I am going to suggest that all of the faculty take this course, When we improve ourselves, it is amazing how much better the students become. Keep on doing the great work that you are doing.

This course was excellent and the video-lectures by Laurie Santos were highly informative and clearly presented. I loved the way the research was closely coupled to practical implementation in my own life. I feel this course helped to stabilize and motivate me to face up to the many challenges that covid-19 has caused me. I feel better, more informed, secure and able to confront issues in my life now. I cold not recommend this more highly for anyone who needs to find more meaning to life.

I loved Laurie! She was very real and relatable. I enjoyed the subject matter. I found many of the surveys and studies extremely interesting. I feel like I've learned over the years that what we think is going to make us happy, especially when we're young...perfect body, marriage, material items...doesn't. I just wish I would've learned those lessons at the same age as the students in this class. I'm on a mission to incorporate many of these rewirements into my life. Better late than never!!!

This course was a delight. It provided a lovely introduction to the field of positive psychology and the constituent parts of "well-being". More importantly, it provided a set of tools that one can use to improve one's own well-being. Although the course was originally targeted to university undergraduates, the content is equally applicable to 63 year olds like me. There is an extensive list of references as well so if you want to learn more you can "nerd-out" on the books and articles.

The course was wonderful for me. I haven't studied or reflected on life for a long time. I needed to learn and practice new habits. Thank you for the opportunity to do these things.

I found the computer programming a little confusing at times, especially when I took a break for a few days. I had trouble returning to the previous lesson. If you, by chance, omit a section or some questions, you are locked in and cannot progress. This was frustrating. But, I did manage to work it out on my own.

Loved this course! I began it to find wellness during covid and have ended up sharing WOOP with my kids (who are all home right now) to help them with their goal setting. The strengths and practice of gratitude has become a nightly conversation with my husband. We don't write them but we each share 5 things we are grateful for while we are walking our dogs or having a glass of wine after dinner. It has helped us both be mindful of joy that is present daily if only you focus. Thank you!

Where to begin. Might be cheesy, but I really feel well, my well-being has greatly improved! Learning about what makes me happy, has been eye-opening… I want to continue using all the tips and tricks I have learned, they are easy and very meaningful. This course should definitely be mandatory to all students attending all types of post-secondary education schools and also in schools of all ages. I definitely recommend this course to all people, no matter your background, no matter your age.

I like the instructor. She has an engaging and positive vibe. There was a couple of occasions where the lectures became a little monotonous, but overall it was interesting and informative. A lot of data and statistics, but I suppose that is to be expected with the "science" aspect. The course was also easy to follow and well-organized. What I found most beneficial were the activities and assignments. Although simple concepts, it changed my entire outlook once I began doing the work.
