A very enlightening course. This opened my eyes a lot more to what Mental health is all about and how patients with diverse mental illness struggle through their journey to healing and recovery.

This course was excllent! Charmaine Williams created a well-rounded and easy to follow course that really helped me to think critically about the way our society interacts with mental health.

Course work and Professor Williams were very enjoyable. I thought Prof. Williams had a very good idea of what she wanted the course toverview to be, and she covered that wonderfully. The extra readings were great, it showed her commitment to the course. Prof. Williams' on screen energy was engaging.
Those who want their work to stand for what it is should not take this course. Grading is done by other students of the course. Marks were all over the board, with no ability to redress obvious faults. You can score the minimum mark in the same catagory that you score the maximum. Language skills are an issue. There is such a problem with the grading that one can be charged with plagiarism on an essay about yourself - if my life is on Google, like it was suggested, it is news to me. It just isn't a serious academic course.

I very much enjoyed this course. Dr. Williams is a very good lecturer, the course content was interesting in its diversity, progression and the information given. The technology for this course was most frustrating to me at times and I was puzzled by the 'peer review' aspect as I am unsure whether I received my grade from my peers or the professor. I am grateful for these free courses because they shed light on important issues (I previously took the Indigenous Canada course) and I would not hesitate to recommend these courses. Thank you. Very interesting and complete. Unfortunately, it is evident that the course topics and lectures have not been updated since at least 2014. This is a great drawback of this course because many things regarding the social context of mental health and illness have happened and changed during this years (e.g. the publication of the DSM-V).

This course helps me to find the various aspects of the mental health and illness on the basis of mental health and illness..

I appreciated the focus on mental health and mental illness, and I enjoyed learning about the history of asylums and the DSM. However, I did not learn as much as I had hoped to. The course felt more like a commentary, than actually learning about certain topics.
