About the Course

Project Management: Foundations and Initiation provides students the foundational knowledge of how engineering projects are managed and initiated. Project managers are responsible for project scope, stakeholder management, effective communication, and team leadership. In this course, you will develop introductory skills needed to manage traditional engineering projects, along with tools needed to engage stakeholders and build diverse teams. This course can be taken for academic credit as part of CU Boulder’s Master of Engineering in Engineering Management (ME-EM) degree offered on the Coursera platform. The ME-EM is designed to help engineers, scientists, and technical professionals move into leadership and management roles in the engineering and technical sectors. With performance-based admissions and no application process, the ME-EM is ideal for individuals with a broad range of undergraduate education and/or professional experience. Learn more about the ME-EM program at https://www.coursera.org/degrees/me-engineering-management-boulder. This a great start for proffesionals aspiring to lead not only projects but teams as well. It provides clear and solid foundations in project management, using up to date data from excellent sources.

it was an amazing class and I enjoyed the whole process. All thanks to my course lecturers for taking out their time to ensure we all got to the end of this very course.

Lots of information and insights were provided. The downloads are very valuable and helpful. I felt that the presenter was very well spoken and clear. My one complaint would be that I did not grasp the whole project flow until after completing all modules in the course and reading the Process Groups to Knowledge Areas matrix again. Now, I feel that the order is becoming clearer. Maybe that could be provided earlier and referenced more. Thank you.

Overall I think this course was well made. Although a good amount of the content is from third party, such as APPS/software company blogs and youtube, I still think it was carefully selected and thoughtfully put together. I'm not a huge fan of the peer grading system. I started the course early before the term started. Some submissions were given lower points without explanation.

Very useful information, except when getting into the political stuff at the end. This includes 1) businesses needing to take on more responsibility with climate change and 2) integrating DEI into the workspace. I'd recommend removing that content and the course would be golden.

I think it was good overall. I think the video lessons could have had a bit more information, context and examples. On a side note the production quality was a bit lacking for a University. I think having someone professionally film this would not be a huge investment.

This course was very helpful for me to apply my knowledge in Project Management through various hands-on projects. I do suggest this course to my other students because it will help them to get a Solid understanding of Project Management Basics.

When trying to do peer reviews there were a few times I was unable to open other students submission due to the file extension. Is there anyway to ensure that all files when uploaded are able to be viewed in .pdf or .docx formats?

Really great EM-PM introduction course for people moving up and into project management and leadership roles. A broad overview of PM process and topics and provides the necessary common terminology to speak with others about PM.

It is one of the most prestigious online educational platforms out there offering courses on Data Science, Business, Health and much more. Coursera offers different learning programs from courses to specializations and degrees.

Course is extremely useful provided the learner go through all the recommended reading.

Having said that, please check the links given for a couple of articles suggested from PMI are not working

Content is dated. Wish there was a way to interact with students who are taking the course with me at the same time
