Really good course especially for engineers new to the field of project management and handling. I appreciate the hard work that has been done to put this course together.
Thank You once again!

This is the most comprehenvise course among all 3 in the engineering management specialization. There are some tools and insights that add lot of value and therefore a good starting point.

Everything was good about this course, however, some people taking these types of courses are not serious and are not objective when grading the work. They would definitely give you a bad grade though you did an almost perfect job. Some of them would submit whatever work just to pass the assignment, which is really bad.

The content is relevant, but the delivery is conventional, frontal, and at times not careful. The quiz tests are often too trivial to be a useful exercise. Grading by peers is an interesting idea, but unfortunately it does not happen in timely fashion.

The video material was high quality, but the exercises became very inconsistent and very badly planned. The tasks didn't help to assimilate the content of the lectures and the Excel templates provided were corrupted. That was very disappointing.

30 years running programs, up to five years @ $3M/yr. Only four units in I want to fire somebody. Material correlates very poorly with quizzes... about half the answers can not be found directly in the PMBOK or presentations. The assignments are a total load... info provided is completely insufficient to do the work. Cumulative and iterative building of project docs is difficult since the expectations for each type of assignment do not "nest" properly. For example, a 1120 hour project has 28+ items on the WBS. Now they want this resolved into a CPM diagram? Effort hours info is in nine categories, which are not well-correlated to anything and thus need to be spread laterally across functions. And still add up. Without software this is an all-day job, notwithstanding that it requires some judgement beyond scope of the class.

This course is a waste of time and money. You might as well just go read the PMBOK. I had to put the instructors at 2x speed just to get through the lectures. The quizzes ask basic questions that are all just small differences in syntax and terminology. The case study template they give you doesn't allow for any flexibility, and the case study itself is irrelevant to anything I'll be doing.
Probably a better course for construction management. Not applicable to engineers who don't work with clients on every project.

I really liked learning about the tide pools and local labs. Originally I enrolled in this class because I am not from CA or even a coastal areas ( I am from WI) so I thought it would be good to learn a little about the waves, swells and currents as I venture into the water a little more the longer I have lived here. I had no idea the depth of the earth’s oceans or the importance of them. I really liked the online option of this class because I am a very busy person (2 jobs and college). The only thing that was a little confusing at first was all the different resources. In the beginning I had a hard time finding the answers to questions because I wasn’t sure where to look. The book, Notes, PowerPoint presentations, web-labs, the cd with the book… Just was a little much but as the semester progressed I got the feel of it and benefited from all the information.

Excellent course! Excellent Professors and teachers! This course is perfecting me and let me realize my previous childish, stupid and immature thinking method and deeds. Thanks, thank the prestigious and respectable Professor Tom and Kaz, and other teachers for providing such valuable and useful course to us. Thanks, thank Rice University for giving me such good and quite rare learning opportunity.

Personally, as an architect who had zero knowledge of project management, this online course taught me so much although this is completely different than my type of work since I'm a designer. I loved the instructors and more importantly, the graphs and visual notes that made it easier and faster to understand the materials of this course.

Really good course! It gives you I impressive load of information about Project Planning. It is simple, so even someone like me who never had a class about this subject can understand and learn a lot in the Course. Furthermore, despite the simplicity, the course is really detailed and deep about the knowledge!!
Amazing!!!

An important course for those who are aspiring for leading a project team or an organization who will undertake projects in various realms of today's world. What is the utility of being an engineering if you can't apply your knowledge in handling a team or a project?

Excellent content. Beginner to intermediate level (in my opinion). Nice overview of the scope, WBS, scheduling tools, and cost estimates. Recommended 100%. A nice mix of videos, lectures, students' interaction, and assignments.
