About the Course

UI and UX design is a thriving industry with numerous prospects for anyone with the right skills. This course is designed for those who are interested in starting a career in designing UI and UX experiences as well as developers who want to create web and front-end applications. It emphasizes the key concepts, tools, and methodologies used in front-end development. Web and mobile-accessible devices are transforming the world. Nowadays, everyone has a smartphone, tablet, smart TV, and/or laptop, which they use for communication and data searching. Companies are increasingly turning to front-end developers, mobile app developers, and UI/UX designers to assist them in producing user-friendly products. Therefore, it is crucial to provide users with a robust yet intuitive user interface and experience. In this course, you will learn about the best practices of visual design development and identify the differences between well-designed and poor user interfaces. You will explore typography, readability, and colour theory in UI design. You will gain insight into key methodologies in visual design like Responsive Web Design (RWD) and Progressive Web Design (PWD). You will gain exposure to tools like Figma, a collaborative cloud-based app used for interface design. You will discover the steps to set up a Figma account and learn about its configuration. In addition, you will explore the various components, styles, libraries, and layout grids used in Figma that are essential for design. Throughout this course, you will learn through videos, readings, activities, and quizzes designed to teach you the fundamentals of visual web and mobile design and development. You will gain a range of technical and practical knowledge and get insights and guidance from experts in the field. The practical knowledge you will gain from the hands-on labs will further strengthen your base and enable you to perform better. This is a beginner’s course, intended for learners with basic computer operating skills who have a fundamental knowledge of visual design development and are familiar with Figma. To be successful in this course, you should have a basic understanding of User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design as well as website wireframes, familiarity with the different kinds of layouts and tools used for visual design in various devices, and familiarity with the Figma application....

The course gives the clean idea of an integrated design management in #softwaredevelopment for the #softwareengineers though IBM should select a better alternative to Thunkable.

Overall this was a great course, very informative for newbies like myself, to UI/UX. I came away from it feeling very well informed on the subject. I gave it 4 stars because there were a couple of the Hands-on Labs like the Thunkable one, that was very "clunky" even though I followed the instructions exactly as given (and I'm working on a new computer so everything is up to date including my browsers) but it just would not properly handle my imported Figma files. In another lab, the instructions were unclear and seemed to "skip steps" as if the instructor assumed that the student should know certain things which were not explained in any of the previous material or videos. My suggestions for improvement of this course and any course geared towards beginners, is that everything and especially the Hands-on Labs are explained with extremely thorough and clear instructions- assume that the student knows nothing at all on the subject matter. This will help us to not get frustrated and to have greater success- thank you!

The course is great and I have learned a lot. I suggest that the order of the modules must be changed such that PWA be the first one followed by using Draw.io and the rest is fine. I experience some confusion because of that order. The video lecture again I suggest that there must be an onscreen demonstration of the use of figma and thunkable for learners to better understand. Thank you so much the course was great.

The course has armed me with a good level of expertise to better understand the digital world and the community. I like that the modules weren't too demanding. I would prefer if the slides showed some real examples to support the topics in each module, as this would help provide welcome context

The content was extremely interesting, but the tools didn't work as expected. Thunkable was trashy, the Figma import came completely messed up. Also, I was extremely disappointed I didn't have to submit it after wasting so much time trying to fix it. The tools part may need some updates, maybe some screens were different, or maybe the instructions could have a bit more detail.

Since software (Figma & Thunkable) is used in this course, the videos could have shown more images of what was being described. I enjoyed practicing with Figma and Thunkable. The labs in the course were simple, and the staff was helpful in answering questions in a timely manner.

Good basic knowledge. A big minus is the lack of illustrative material, there is a lot of text and you just have to imagine a lot of things. If I were the creators of the course, I would hire UI/UX designer to improve usability of the course, a bit
