About the Course

This is the third course in the Google Cybersecurity Certificate. These courses will equip you with the skills you need to apply for an entry-level cybersecurity job. You’ll build on your understanding of the topics that were introduced in the second Google Cybersecurity Certificate course. In this course, you will explore how networks connect multiple devices and allow them to communicate. You'll start with the fundamentals of modern networking operations and protocols. For example, you'll learn about the Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) model and how network hardware, like routers and modems, allow your computer to send and receive information on the internet. Then, you'll learn about network security. Organizations often store and send valuable information on their networks, so networks are common targets of cyber attacks. By the end of this course, you'll be able to recognize network-level vulnerabilities, and explain how to secure a network using firewalls, system hardening, and virtual private networks. Google employees who currently work in cybersecurity will guide you through videos, provide hands-on activities and examples that simulate common cybersecurity tasks, and help you build your skills to prepare for jobs. Learners who complete this certificate will be equipped to apply for entry-level cybersecurity roles. No previous experience is necessary. By the end of this course, you will: - Describe the structure of different computer networks. - Illustrate how data is sent and received over a network. - Recognize common network protocols. - Identify common network security measures and protocols. - Explain how to secure a network against intrusion tactics. - Compare and contrast local networks to cloud computing. - Explain the different types of system hardening techniques....

Like guiding through network and security elements ... fast. Challenging and rich in content but not going into too deep. The following courses in the certificate will delve deeper, I imagine.

I had to do this while sick and injured...BRUTAL. But this course WILL teach you the working skills of it. Just make sure to know how to set up your computer when you go to work and you're good.

I love the subject and construction of the information, learned a lot. The only complain I have is that the instructor speaks so fast and barely followed him, had to slow down the videos which sounds a bit weird and extends the time of learning or just read the transcript without video at times as I just couldn't focus on what he was relaying. I'm not saying he don't know the subject as he is very professional but he provides so much info speaking so fast that is hard to keep up and it's quite monotonous speaker which caused me to stop learning for few weeks as I just couldn't get my head over the way he speaks. It's probably just me but I was a bit disappointed with that. Other than that I am very grateful for this and really provided lots of good info.

All the courses were very good and the explanation was good except for the part about networks, it was not covered in a simplified way and my problem with the teacher is that he was talking quickly and slowing down at the end of the speech. It was very difficult for me, especially with the amount of information in this part, with the difficulty of understanding because there were no examples in some parts. I was only imagining. Although I passed the course, I have to repeat it again.

The materials being presented are extremely outdated at this point. I understand teaching the various historical aspects to preserve and prevent future exploits. Still, honestly, the syllabus spent an incredibly long time on it for attack vectors that can't work in today's world.

I took this class to learn not to be treated like an asshole. My laptop does not have a camera. Not what smartasses?
