About the Course

This is the fourth course in the Google Project Management Certificate program. This course will delve into the execution and closing phases of the project life cycle. You will learn what aspects of a project to track and how to track them. You will also learn how to effectively manage and communicate changes, dependencies, and risks. As you explore quality management, you will learn how to measure customer satisfaction and implement continuous improvement and process improvement techniques. Next, you will examine how to prioritize data, how to use data to inform your decision-making, and how to effectively present that data. Then, you will strengthen your leadership skills as you study the stages of team development and how to manage team dynamics. After that, you will discover tools that provide effective project team communication, how to organize and facilitate meetings, and how to effectively communicate project status updates. Finally, you will examine the steps of the project closing process and how to create and share project closing documentation. Current Google project managers will continue to instruct and provide you with hands-on approaches for accomplishing these tasks while showing you the best project management tools and resources for the job at hand. Learners who complete this program should be equipped to apply for introductory-level jobs as project managers. No previous experience is necessary. By the end of this course, you will be able to: - Identify what aspects of a project to track and compare different tracking methods. - Discuss how to effectively manage and communicate changes, dependencies, and risks. - Explain the key quality management concepts of quality standards, quality planning, quality assurance, and quality control. - Describe how to create continuous improvement and process improvement and how to measure customer satisfaction. - Explain the purpose of a retrospective and describe how to conduct one. - Demonstrate how to prioritize and analyze data and how to communicate a project’s data-informed story. - Identify tools that provide effective project team communication and explore best practices for communicating project status updates. - Describe the steps of the closing process for stakeholders, the project team, and project managers....

Overall, this program is great. I like the variety of reading, videos, activities, and tests. The instructors have been engaging and knowledgeable, and the content is extremely helpful. I do, however, have a comment regarding a significant frustration:

I like the concept of peer grading (it allows you the additional opportunity to apply what you have learned by providing feedback to peers, and when properly done, allows for you to receive valuable feedback from peers); however, there is no quality control on peer graders. For whatever reason, some do not read or follow grading criteria or instructions.

Throughout the four courses I have completed thus far in this certificate program, multiple times I have had situations where one grader entirely fails a project with zero feedback (or even says "great job!"), while another grader gives 100%. If for whatever reason, one of the two graders is unable to access the document, they give a failing grade rather than flagging the document as unaccessible, as instructed.

All this results in needing to resubmit the VERY SAME document(s) while I cross my fingers and hope that someone who can follow the grading criteria and instructions is selected to grade my project.

An audit function that allows for the flagging of graders who either do not follow the clear insturctions or do not follow the grading criteria would be helpful (attention to detail is, after all, extremely important for effective project management).

Please do not interpret this comment as a lack of receptivity to feedback. If actionable (or any) feedback had been provided regarding how work could be improved, that would be great. This has not been the case.

Overall, great course. I really like the instructor. She was very charasmatic and a natural on camera. The only thing that I would say was a bit frustrating was some of the "transcripts" for the videos were big long paragraphs instead of being broken into more easily read chunks. I thought this was ironic because the started shortly after talking about "accessibility" and making sure presentations were easy to read, follow along, not to cluttered or wordy. Also it felt like some of the questions for Week 6 in particular were really tricky. I went back and compared the way that the questions were phrased in comparison to the transcripts and reading materials and felt like the questions could have been worded to better reflect the material/verbiage.

Mostly excellent. However, as with previous courses in this certification track, there are times when the quizzes will ask you for answers or definitions to terms that are either entirely different from what they covered, weren't covered, or were barely covered. Examples: A quiz question asked for a definition of a term that was different than the definition covered in the course material. Another quiz question asked me to define a term that had been used a grand total of 4 times in exactly 1 video (the term was never used again in the remainder of that course's materials). In short: Great material, great course, bad quizzes, expect to lose points for nonsensical reasons.

A challenging, intense course that's well taught and presented. Loved the visual content and the Instructor's commitment and ability to break down the concepts, "recap" and eventually sum the objectives up, highlighting Execution and Closing in such a way, that the impact and importance of this course is clear. On the other hand, the "Peer Review" process was frustrating to navigate, as no student should be required to "beg" peers for a review/grade in order to receive a tedious, scrutinous, self-earned Certificate. This course deserves 5+ stars, however the "Peer Review" grading process = Poor.

For me, this course provided enough information to go to the next step of knowledge and expertise: learn PM BOK and get a PMI PMP certificate. I would have liked this course to be a little more structured, more oriented on processes and how the project manager should conduct these processes. I understand that this course is addressed more to people who are at the beginning of their career and less to those who already have experience and want to improve and formalize their knowledge. But as a final evaluation, I consider the course really worth it. I would rate it 85 from a maximum of 100.

Sorry I will just talk about the downside here: the peer review. Clearly peers are not invested into correcting and giving feedbacks. For all the courses of that certificate, they always failed me on my first submissions. Always. And I always passed while uploading the exact same assignment without any corrections. They would fail me and give feedbacks such as "Great Work". Well thank you, but then why you failed me? Clearly this peer review system is flawed and highly inconsistent. The content of the courses is great, the coaches are great, all is great except for poorly invested peers.

The course material was relevant and clear. However, unfortunately my course peers did not quite understand the scoring process on the graded assignments. I had to re-submit multiple times knowing my assignment had all required points, because several course peers did not take the grading seriously and I was getting failing grades repeatedly. This process needs to be evolved to be more fair, as it stalled my progress and ability to close out this portion of the course for several days.

Contents were superb. But the Instructor tends to deliver the lectures too fast. It was a bit hard for me to grab the theme of the lectures at ease just because of the speedy lectures. Besides, it was like someone is thoroughly reading out loud a script and you need to literally run after it to catch the speeches. In my opinion lectures should be delivered naturally, not just reading out loud but like conversating on the topic.

This course was very helpful, informative and thorough. The instructor spoke clearly and slowly, though I had to review the videos several times to catch up on my note taking. I don't like the peer reviews - I disagreed with the way my activities were graded a few times. With some of the activities there really could be more than one correct answer or more than one way to complete a task, but overall this course was great.

I found this course covered a LOT of ground, and I will be referring back to my notes and the other resources provided, for years to come. There was some repetition e.g. in the presentations and the readings, but overall a very enriching and thought provoking course.

Thank you to all involved, especially the presenters - Your passion for the subject shines through!

Bruce.

The course covered extremely useful, important, and fascinating topics. However, the amount of information provided was somewhat overwhelming and challenging to memorize. Personally, I found the instructor's communication style less than ideal. Her fast-paced speech and somewhat uncomfortable tone occasionally left me feeling fatigued.

Even though the course is well structured and try to cover all the relevant topics, at the end it is generic, which is inevitable, however there are topic extremely relevant when managing a project, such as budget control and changes due to inflation or risk management. Those in my opinion, should be the topics with more emphasis.

A very long journey to achieve project management skills or concepts. Execution is key factor because plan is nothing if not acted. So this course go deeply into the core of project running, dedicated to all whom want to understand closing, running, execution and how to approach a trip into product management.

This is by far my least favorite in the series for 2 reasons. Reason number 1 is that activities are not self-contained. Secondly, some sentences used were difficult to understand from non-native English speakers. The activities are not self-contained. Apart from that it's a good course

The presenter did really well, but compared to the other courses I have to say that there were a lot of relevant information that was rushed through. And in general the speed of talking was, compared again to the other courses quite fast.

But again thumbs up for the presenter

Very well strucured course. I suggest you increase the number of knowledge check test questions and answers at the end of course sections or chapeter and do away with the peer corrected exercises. We are still learners and therefore the peer corrections are very subjective.

I gave this particular course a 4 out 5 because it had a lot of information and I found it hard to pinpoint specific reference points without having to rewatch a full video to find the one answer I was looking for. I liked the presenter and the overall flow of this course.

I enjoyed learning the material in this course and have already started putting it to work. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because I was never able to see feedback from peer graded assignments though I received email communication that I had new feedback.

Very comprehensive overview of hard and soft skills required for executing a project.

THe only lacking thing is some examples of a retrospective, which is very much talked about but not completely clear if you haven't done one in real life by yourself.

This one was a tad heavy. Lots of notes, would've likes a workbook, or be able to download the slides. The download option simply puts everything into one long text item and it's way too time consuming to even try to read. Am I doing something wrong?

Althougth it was good I was hoping to get more on controlling the project and data-driven project management, but it kinda stays on the surface showing how to do graphs and plot, but to go to go depper on how to analyse data for managing projects
