About the Course

The COVID-19 crisis has created an unprecedented need for contact tracing across the country, requiring thousands of people to learn key skills quickly. The job qualifications for contact tracing positions differ throughout the country and the world, with some new positions open to individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent. In this introductory course, students will learn about the science of SARS-CoV-2 , including the infectious period, the clinical presentation of COVID-19, and the evidence for how SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted from person-to-person and why contact tracing can be such an effective public health intervention. Students will learn about how contact tracing is done, including how to build rapport with cases, identify their contacts, and support both cases and their contacts to stop transmission in their communities. The course will also cover several important ethical considerations around contact tracing, isolation, and quarantine. Finally, the course will identify some of the most common barriers to contact tracing efforts -- along with strategies to overcome them....

Thanks for the team behind the course , much relevant and required for all who can take up. It prepares the interested individuals ( non medical also) in a way possible to contribute & coordinate within our extended social community , thus support the Government authorities efforts - to break the chain - the only effective and proven way to face COVID19 as on date.

Well done! The quantity of information shared was significant, but materials were well planned and executed. The information will help me start to develop as a caring and effective contact tracer. I also gained a lot of information which will help me make informed choices about my behavior which are based on current science and the history of public health. Thank you.

The course content and presentation were excellent. Some of the wording on the final exam was confusing, e.g., Questions 17 and 26 used the wrong pronoun. In my opinion, Questions, 6, 15, and 30 were poorly written and there seemed too much room for interpretation by the test taker.

Overall, I'm glad that I took the course and I learned much more than when I started.

I had learned much of this from CNN, but the Detailed aspects and very specific Visual representations of the Timelines of Infection solidified what I have known and what I learned through this course. I believe this is a very detailed, clearly spoken and designed course, enabling nearly anyone to fully understand the COVID-19 risk and our ability to reduce that risk.

This was a very informative and thorough course. My favorite part of this course was being able to listen to mock calls that provide example scenarios of calls that went well and those that could have been handled better. I feel confident that I understand the basic framework of contact tracing and have a base set of knowledge to assist my state with contact tracing.

It is very difficult to have disease in a situation like this. This is an excellent course to understand and to identify the situation of an individual who's fighting with coronavirus. As a contact tracer, we must protect our community from this disease by helping to prevent and slow down the transmission of COVID-19 which might decrease the total number of infected.

Great course! I learnt so much about COVID-19 that I didn't already know and about contact tracing. The diagrams explaining the infectious and incubation period were particularly helpful and the speed was perfect. The assessments throughout were a mixture of multiple-choice questions and short answer questions - great way to test our knowledge! Recommend this course!

This is an excellent course to prepare individuals wanting to be involved in contact tracing, not just COVID-19 contact tracing. It discusses in depth the various nuances of how and what type of questions to ask, how to create rapport, the need for detailed notes, what to say and what to avoid saying; in short it's a real education into the "art" of contact tracing.

This course provides the essential information one would need to properly perform contact tracing (and case support) successfully, by thoroughly covering procedures and practices but more importantly, how to develop and build rapport. The examples for doing so are demonstrated and analyzed, to illustrate what successful, interpersonal communications skills look like.
