About the Course

The COVID-19 crisis has created an unprecedented need for contact tracing across the country, requiring thousands of people to learn key skills quickly. The job qualifications for contact tracing positions differ throughout the country and the world, with some new positions open to individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent. In this introductory course, students will learn about the science of SARS-CoV-2 , including the infectious period, the clinical presentation of COVID-19, and the evidence for how SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted from person-to-person and why contact tracing can be such an effective public health intervention. Students will learn about how contact tracing is done, including how to build rapport with cases, identify their contacts, and support both cases and their contacts to stop transmission in their communities. The course will also cover several important ethical considerations around contact tracing, isolation, and quarantine. Finally, the course will identify some of the most common barriers to contact tracing efforts -- along with strategies to overcome them....

Well done, mini quiz were well paced.

Slides and commentary were clean and voices were pleasant

to listen to.

This was long, I would prefer broken up into two sections.

I also would have liked to have known where I was in the process, halfway thru , 75% complete.

I also guessed at my time, I didn't watch the time during the training.

Well presented and executed. I took the course just out of curiosity and I am glad I did. The enlightenment and knowledge acquired is priceless. Gives an indepth insight into how the Covid-19 disease is infected. the symptoms and how it spreads. More importantly what we can do as society in general to stop the spread. Great course.

This class was an excellent source of information about a disease that we do not understand. It provided me with a better understanding about this disease and how to protect myself and my family against spreading it to others. Thank you for this information. You have help save more lives by offering this information to the public.

Excellent course to gather important information about the tracking procedures and the COVID 19 virus from its origins. Well explained, clear and with details that helps build up knowledge and clarify the process of the tracing and the way the virus work and the way our department of health are working to try to stop this pandemic.

I had studied material on the CDC website prior to taking this training. This training was very logical in the way it was presented and helped me differential some terms I had learned as well as the process in many cases. Very well done. I would recommend this as a "beginner" training for anyone who is to become a contact tracer.

Well-paced and with a welcoming approach for a broad array of experiences. Through the course, I developed a sense of the challenges that contact tracers face, including the need for patience and really connecting with people in a frightening or frustrating time. Excellent lessons for anyone in communications and community building.

Very straight forward and clear examples for full understanding. Terms were defined teach people that are not in the medical field therefore not intimidating. This is important because I never became frustrated or discouraged from learning. I recommend this course to all even if you are not interested in becoming a contact tracer.

Very thorough. Goes into detail not only about the medical terms and all details tracers need to collect, but also offers valuable guidance about building rapport with the cases and contacts, being an active listener and using great communication skills to guide people through difficult times and help break the chain of transmission

As an educator and marketing professional, I thought this was very well done - audio, visual, video/role playing, quizzes and the clarity of content. One takeaway I want to share is that the skillset needed to be an effective contact tracer will be hard to find. I have ideas on how to address this should you want to discuss further.

The instructor, Emily, whose voice is still in my head, has an excellent style for adding the proper inflection. Chances are I am guessing Emily does not sing in a choir. Her skills as a public speaker are most impressive without having the vocal range of an opera singer. I would much rather listen to Emily than Amy for 5-6 hours.

I found it extremely interesting and way more in-depth than I had previously imagined it to be. I enjoyed it tremendously. It was challenging enough to whet my interest for more courses through this website. Also I fully intend to seek employment as a contact tracer and if any help is available on your behalf I would appreciate it.

Very clear and easy to learn, I recommend this course to everyone in order to stay as well informed about COVID-19 as possible. The more people who are educated with the correct information about this virus the more able we are as human being to reduce the spread as well as better treat those who have and/or will contract COVID-19.

Very comprehensive course. The instructor's tone and pacing are very good. I felt the course was easy, though at times, you do need to think some specific things through as they are a little complex. The section of the course on communication skills would benefit anyone seeking to improve their communication skills in any field.
