About the Course

The COVID-19 crisis has created an unprecedented need for contact tracing across the country, requiring thousands of people to learn key skills quickly. The job qualifications for contact tracing positions differ throughout the country and the world, with some new positions open to individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent. In this introductory course, students will learn about the science of SARS-CoV-2 , including the infectious period, the clinical presentation of COVID-19, and the evidence for how SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted from person-to-person and why contact tracing can be such an effective public health intervention. Students will learn about how contact tracing is done, including how to build rapport with cases, identify their contacts, and support both cases and their contacts to stop transmission in their communities. The course will also cover several important ethical considerations around contact tracing, isolation, and quarantine. Finally, the course will identify some of the most common barriers to contact tracing efforts -- along with strategies to overcome them....

Interesting perspective and nicely structured. The presenters voice is a bit trying for non native US English listeners. Rather a lot of focus on communication skills that are pretty general. I would have liked some more info on figures in regard to this disease and their statistics.

Good, basic start to understanding the terms and some of the possible conditions of Contact Tracing. The provided scenarios were well thought out and the production value was good. The narration of the material was always slow and clear plus there was text with which to follow along.

Es un curso general sin embargo bastante completo donde explican de manera en la que puedas entender realmente lo que lees, esta información no es sólo teórica exclusiva de la enfermedad por el coronavirus sino que además aporta habilidades que podemos utilizar en otras situaciones.

Got to know a lot about the reality of how Contact Tracing works. Happy to be certified but I wanted to help but only with this certificate I was not allowed to help contact tracing in my city. I would love to see Coursera bringing more real and practical courses like this. Thanks.

A review coming from a high school student! I actually found the course really interesting, since it's beyond learning content. We really get to see how a contact tracer engages with the contacts. Also, the length of the course is bearable, I'd say. Definitely worth signing up for.

This course was extremely well broken-down; even without instructor interaction, every question that occurred to me was answered at some point within the modules. Helpful visuals, very informative without being extraneous, and the sample-call videos were very well done and helpful.
