About the Course

This is the third course in the Google Data Analytics Certificate. As you continue to build on your understanding of the topics from the first two courses, you’ll be introduced to new topics that will help you gain practical data analytics skills. You’ll learn how to use tools like spreadsheets and SQL to extract and make use of the right data for your objectives, and how to organize and protect your data. Current Google data analysts will continue to instruct and provide you with hands-on ways to accomplish common data analyst tasks with the best tools and resources. Learners who complete this certificate program will be equipped to apply for introductory-level jobs as data analysts. No previous experience is necessary. By the end of this course, learners will: - Find out how analysts decide what data to collect for analysis. - Learn about structured and unstructured data, data types, and data formats. - Discover how to identify different types of bias in data to help ensure data credibility. - Explore how analysts use spreadsheets and SQL within databases and data sets. - Examine open data and the relationship between, and importance of, data ethics and data privacy. - Gain an understanding of how to access databases and extract, filter, and sort the data they contain. - Learn best practices for organizing data and keeping it secure....

Thank you for the course! It's a nice introduction to SQL and Google Big Query as well as the concepts of data privacy and security. The course also offers some great tips for professional networking.

The lessons were easy to follow through and the explanantions were easy to understand. The hands-on practices also helped improve hands-on skills with the data analysis tools introduced in this course

Absolute worst online class I have ever taken. I will be quitting this program thanks to this course. The video is outdated and does not match the tool you will need to use. Only written steps are added to attempt to explain the differences. No images or graphics to help demonstrate. And don't count on the discussion forum for help. Most of the answers will use the cop out that as a data analyst, you will be expected to adapt to differences in programs. In other words, you have to figure it out by yourself. Which ironically is the opposite of what they tell you in an earlier video, where they preach that you should ask questions and not waste time or effort doing unnecessary steps or trying to determine the best approach when you have coworkers and mentors to help explain things. I have used R Studio and Jupiter Notebook and Tableau. But the interface for BigQuery and the documentation in this course to help explain how to use it is useless and makes it impossible to get past week 3.

Google updated the course without notifying currently enrolled students. So it kicked me out of the course and I had to re-enroll. Then I had to go back and re-do quizzes I had already completed. Coursera's response was that it was out of their hands because Google made the updates. Coursera should allow users to finish the version they're currently enrolled in or at least warn them that the course has been updated. I wasted time troubleshooting this and retaking the quizzes. However, the content is good and I appreciate what I'm learning. I'm still worried this will happen again in one of the 5 remaining courses I have for this certificate.

The lady that was doing the class was not a good presenter. She was difficult to pay attention to as she droned on and on. She was completely bias while trying to talk about not being bias. She was very condescending and unprofessional during the class. Google should better vet the presenters for knowledge and ability to present valuable information not just using what race, gender and identity. Unbiased presentation is unbiased data.

I'm only rating this way because I can't rate the entire Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate. I just wasted 6 months on this course with the promise I could get a job in data analysis. Well, I can crush data analysis! But my lack of background in math is proving to make me unhirable. I wish I'd known this before wasting time and money on this program. Now I'm 6 months behind training for another career.

All of the quizzes were made of up common sense questions where you don't even need to open the spreadsheets they give you to answer them. I get that this is a beginner course but...what's the age range? 8-12? So far this course has been a complete joke and something I will not be putting on my resume.

I spent more than an hour on this. Whenever I type: 'bigquery....hire' I get in RED: Unexpected string literal "..."at [4:1]

So when I click RUN, I get nothing.

I am trying to attract your attention to the problem by putting a low score, the course is great otherwise.

Big Query sandbox videos and instructions DO NOT match the current interface. I can't even finish this course because of it. I'm absolutely frustrated, feels like a waste of all of the time I've spent in this program because I can't move forward now. I expected better from Google.

Hopefully Google will not ask credit card details for the trial of Big query access. Of better to use an alternative Big Query to practice of try for new learners. Not all people have credit card to begin with.

Week 3 is so awful, that I am giving this course one star before even finishing it. You have students considering dropping the course because of the issues. It needs to be fixed immediately.

Support was very poor. I had an issue where the video and actual working on BigQuery wasn't matching up. The course took me longer than expected, and support was helpful at all :(

There is very little practical information contained in this course. I am extremely disappointed and don't feel this has helped me learn how to prepare data at all.

Redundant.

Instructor quizzes arranged in such a way as to be intentionally tricky.

Not clear, not instructive, distracting style
